Thread about Tunis sheep woolI've been trying to catch up on some spinning (I think I have the equivalent of a small herd of sheep fleeces under my bed) so I started with a 4 lb Tunis fleece I bought from Foxdale Springs Farm in the Shave 'em to Save 'em program. To those unfamiliar, this program is an effort to save rare breeds of sheep from extinction by purchasing fleece from the shepherds.
The sheep originated in Tunisia and became popular in the US

Yesterday I asked my neighbor who is an amateur #woodworker to make me a basic spindle and he did! I’m also beginning to get the hang of the #ParkAndDraft spinning technique and it works really well with the very short fibers of native cotton.
I am carding by hand and would like to figure out a DIY solution to make better cards without spending over $100 on cotton combs. Any suggestions from the #spinning community?

Spinning Frigg Vintage Fairytale Pin: A beautiful vintage brass pin of a woman with her distaff and spinning wheel. Pin measures just over 1 3/4" (4.5cm) wide.
Frigg is the Norse Goddess of spinning-- it is said that she spun the clouds and you can see her spinning wheel in the sky as the constellation known as Orion's Belt.

I’m bad about making time for spinning, but today managed a bit! This was an awkward blend that I didn’t really enjoy, lots of neps and lumps so it sat for quite some time before plying. I’m also not a fan of plying.
My favourite fibers to spin are alpaca & llama, followed by merino. I’ve never tried spinning silk or cotton (yet). Natural fibres really resonate with me.
