    • Neighborhoods across the city each bring their own spirit and specialty dishes to the table.

Los Angeles stands as a culinary mecca, drawing food lovers from around the globe to its dynamic and ever-evolving dining landscape. Whether you crave the decadence of Michelin-starred tasting menus or the comforting charm of a family-run bistro, the city offers a rich variety of flavors and experiences. With everything from high-end innovation to authentic street cuisine, exploring the best restaurants in Los Angeles is a journey through diverse cultures and culinary visions. Every neighborhood boasts its own gems, making every meal a fresh adventure.

L.A.’s food scene isn’t just about celebrity-chef destinations, though those certainly have their place. From the hills of Hollywood to the heart of Koreatown and the beachside streets of Santa Monica, visitors and locals alike can experience dishes that reflect the city’s multicultural heritage. Newcomers to the city’s dining scene continually raise the bar, ensuring there’s always something new, exciting, and delicious to discover.

The last few years have seen a surge in culinary creativity throughout L.A. This includes both well-known chefs debuting new concepts and lesser-known talents introducing flavors from their home countries to the city’s eager diners. With so many options, navigating the scene requires curiosity, an open mind, and an adventurous palate.

Along with acclaimed restaurant experiences, Los Angeles is equally known for its warm hospitality and variety of settings, whether you prefer a glamorous patio, casual food hall, or hidden alleyway trattoria. To help you make the most of your culinary explorations, consult local resources and national publications for the latest reviews, trends, and can’t-miss recommendations.

    Michelin-Starred Marvels

In 2026, Los Angeles achieved a new milestone with the awarding of its first three-star Michelin honors. Providence and Somni received the prestigious accolade, a testament to the city’s standing in the global fine dining arena. Providence captivates with stunning seafood preparations and a dedication to sustainability, while Somni delights guests with a modernist, multi-course tasting experience that challenges expectations and redefines luxury dining.

The Michelin Guide also highlighted new stars at stalwart favorites and innovative newcomers, cementing Los Angeles as an essential destination for connoisseurs. The recognition has inspired other restaurants around the city to continue pushing the boundaries of creativity, hospitality, and service.

    Neighborhood Gems

For those who prefer something more under the radar, L.A. is brimming with neighborhood restaurants that deliver world-class dining with a side of local character. In March 2026, the Michelin Guide added six new Los Angeles eateries to its California selection, spotlighting places like Corridor 109, Lapaba, and Zira Uzbek Kitchen. These local heroes represent the city’s incredible diversity, serving everything from innovative Korean-Italian dishes to authentic Uzbek flavors. Their inclusion reinforces the idea that you don’t have to dine at a celebrity chef’s table to enjoy some of the best food in Los Angeles.

Places like Little Fish Melrose Hill, Lugya’h by Poncho’s Tlayudas, and Firstborn are beloved by both locals and adventurous visitors eager to discover original takes on traditional flavors. Dining at these neighborhood gems allows you to dive deeper into L.A.’s lesser-known culinary treasures and experience the down-to-earth charm that sets this city apart.

    Solo Dining Experiences

Dining out alone in Los Angeles is a truly satisfying adventure, thanks to welcoming venues and specially curated experiences for solo guests. At Antico Nuovo in Hollywood, single diners can indulge in a tasting menu designed for one, relishing the luxury of attentive service and chef-driven creativity. Meanwhile, Marugame Monzo in Little Tokyo offers a lively counter setup where guests watch artisans craft fresh udon noodles, transforming the solo meal into an engaging culinary show. Seasonal Highlights

The summer season brings even more vibrancy to L.A.’s restaurant scene, as menus shift to highlight fresh produce, outdoor spaces, and innovative cocktails. Popular seasonal picks in 2026 included KA’TEEN in Hollywood, famous for its lush garden setting and creative, shareable plates. Gracias Madre in West Hollywood has also garnered praise for its plant-based Mexican menu, appealing to vegans and omnivores alike. Dining outdoors is a major summer trend, letting guests soak in the sunshine while enjoying elevated cuisine. See Forbes’ feature on the top summer dining destinations for more inspiration.

This lively rotation of new restaurants and seasonal menus means there’s always something novel to taste. Food lovers are encouraged to stay up to date on the latest openings, limited-time events, and chef collaborations that keep L.A.’s food scene fresh and enticing.

    Emerging Culinary Trends

Chefs across Los Angeles are continually experimenting with new concepts and techniques, introducing diners to unexpected flavors and unique settings. One of the most celebrated recent arrivals is Restaurant Ki, an intimate 12-seat counter presenting an extraordinary Korean tasting menu from chef Ki Kim. Since its opening in early 2026, Restaurant Ki has received widespread acclaim for its focus on storytelling and personalized interaction between chef and guest. This move toward immersive and individualized dining reflects a larger movement within the L.A. culinary community. 13. Our trip to the #fishshop (and #chipshop) the other night…

We ended up buying #fishcakes, steamed #dimsims, a #springroll & the smallest serving of #chips on their menu. ($8 for regular serving!)

They asked if we wanted their soy sauce on the dimmies but we declined.

In the car, in the cup holders, we keep 1 bottle of #WorcestershireSauce & 1 bottle of thick, #sweet #soysauce. 👍

All was edible except the chips, which were tiny & fried into hard shells of nothing. #eatingout
