  1. This is hands down one of the best #amiga #demos ever made on all chipsets. It's a real work of art… I can't help but watch it over and over again! #demoscene #batmangroup

  4. The #CuckoosEgg is one of my favorite #books ever. It's the real story of how an astronomer turned #sysadmin starts investigating a 75¢ billing discrepancy and ends up uncovering a KGB #hacker in the late 80's.

I knew there was a docu-style movie starring the real admin #CliffordStoll. But I had never watched it. Until today! And it's every bit as fun and nostalgic to watch as I'd hoped!

  5. @hydrian @shollyethan Well, it's not exactly dying. Yes, the popular #irc networks of the 90s have lost a lot of users when social media became popular in the mid-2000s, but numbers have been somewhat stable since the beginning of the decade. Most still have ~10k users, #liberachat has 30k. There are also many other newer networks which are very active and still growing, #hackint is an example (crossed the 10k mark in 2024, still gaining more users).

I picked up this recommendation and have to say it's fantastic indeed! I breezed through the first 150 pages so far and it's probably the most fun #scifi I've read since The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

What I also love: you can buy the books directly from @jwilker for just $3 each.

  7. I'm trying to track down a weird issue with using #streams as request body for #fetchapi requests in the #browser. After the first chunk is read, the connection stalls and the server never receives any data. It seems to be related to #http3 / #quic. When I downgrade the http reverse proxy to #http2, it works fine.

Has anyone experienced this too? Are streaming request bodies not compatible with http3? (as currently implemented in #chromium)

  11. The turns 50 years old and it's wild how much of how we're using personal computers today can be traced back to this machine. It was truly groundbreaking!

#netrw to browse files, so it's very handy.

vim-scripts/BufOnly.vim – I work in vim all day, so I easily end up with many dozens or even hundreds of open buffers. This is the easiest way to close all but the currently active one.

    *CODING*

    cohama/lexima.vim - auto-closes (), {}, "" and some such pairs

    alvan/vim-closetag – auto-closes and auto-indents #HTML/#XML tags. I write a lot of HTML/JSX, so this saves me a lot of keystrokes.

  13. @Tijn @DigiAntiquarian That was a very entertaining episode! Going back and forth between gameplay and the backstory made it really interesting. I never thought I'd listen to all of the almost 4h, but in the end I did! :-)

    Just 3 weeks later, they're following up with #curl, featuring @bagder .
