@Tijn @DigiAntiquarian That was a very entertaining episode! Going back and forth between gameplay and the backstory made it really interesting. I never thought I'd listen to all of the almost 4h, but in the end I did! :-)

Electronic Arts asked, in their advertising campaign, "Can a computer make you cry?" Implying that *their* games may just be able to do that. Meanwhile, the competition was way ahead of them; #Planetfall did just that instead of just speculating about it.

And in-between times I am playing with a new (to me) Z-Code interpreter called Vezza in RunCPM.
So far so good... Running all my favourites (inc all the Zorks), so far as high as some Z5's.
Loving an easy single interpreter that I can just chuck data files at as CMD line parameters!

#Myst was hugely popular, though I think it had more to do with being a "novelty"... a text adventure (ala #Infocom) with pictures.I've LONG wished #Activision (which owns the old Infocom library) would release 1st person 3D versions of all of the old classics (it can be done now. In the 8bit days, it would have been FAR too complicated.) #HHG2TG #Zork #LeatherGoddesses #Planetfall

Book 69 Atlas Alone (Planetfall 4) by Emma Newman.
Excellent read. The trademark intelligent story line, eerily possible future society, attention to detail, exploration of psychology and trauma, but more action packed than the other books in the series.

Book 66 After Atlas by Emma Newman (Planetfall 02).This was an incredible read. It was captivating and terrifying.
Like all good SF it describes a future society that is very realistic. It doesn't require a lot of imagination to see that future come about, which makes it rather frightening.
If you're not a big fan of SF that's all right. The book is also a pretty decent detective story and an interesting piece of psychological fiction.
