waaayyy back in the day, when I was a kid (5? 1982?) this area of Nanaimo was the old greyhound bus station positioned smartly between the railyard, boat marina (where my dad had and sometimes lived on his salmon troller), small ferry terminal to Gabriola, and small shopping centre.
I have spent a lot of time here.
The harbour had a sawmill or two down beyond the railyard.
Now, the bus station is gone (replaced by the first of what was to become
many residential condos in Nanaimo) and bus service in general is near zero.The railyard is a shadow of its former self/activiry. The car ferry is busier than ever though and now there is a foot ferry to Vancouver. It is late in the evening now but there is regular float plane and helicopter service too.
But I still miss the buses that were parked in these fading yellow spots.

Mostly hopeful speculation on my part, but looks like this might be the bid being accepted for the building of a new weather radar for Environment Canada. I am further hoping this is for the one that is expected to go in near Comox to replace the defunct Duncan/Victoria BC (Mt Sicker) radar!
