  3. A new Aussie study reveals why a magnesium-rich diet is vital for our health, lowering the risk of DNA damage and chronic diseases. Researchers from the University of South Australia found a strong link between low magnesium and high levels of the genotoxic amino acid homocysteine, which can increase susceptibility to Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, various cancers, and diabetes. #Health #Magnesium #AussieResearch #DNAProtection #ChronicDiseasePrevention #UniSA

  4. Hung out with these awe-inspiring librarians today to chat about our favourite thing for an hour at #National24 (ALIA National), celebrating the #OER movement in Australasia and strategising our way around the challenges still ahead.

Katy Henry (CAUL) did an exceptional job facilitating our discussion while Sarah McQuillen discussed UniSA’s textbook minimisation project and navigating the barriers to integrating OER into course materials, Angie Williamson shared Deakin’s approach to ensuring quality and reliability in OER publishing, and Jennifer Hurley (RMIT) gave guidance on the institutional supports required to build sustainable open educational practice.

I spoke about measuring impact beyond cost, referring to Sarah Lambert’s insightful work on the 3Rs of social justice.

What a wonderful start to the conference! I can’t wait to dive into the other Open Ed sessions throughout the week 🤩 And am particularly keen to check out Emilia (emi-lee-ah) Bell’s session tomorrow giving us a glimpse into their PhD research “Open to diplomacy? Libraries, knowledge, and global challenges”.

P.S. Excited speaker landyard pic included because aahhh! What a vibe today!

  5. Welcome to my #introduction post! I mostly research #virtualheritage (#digitalheritage via XR, games) and serious games but also some #DigitalHumanities, teach #ArchitecturalHistory (and maybe #ArchitecturalTheory). In Adelaide South Australia, @ #UnISA, have taught in UK and NZ and worked in Denmark and Japan. Currently helping colleagues form projects for megacrc.com.au/ application. Looking to combine my love of game design workshops, coffee, books, and walking the dog.
