  2. a bit of #inklings history has turned up at the bottom end of our street. Builders chucked out a load of old books, many of them about religion, many signed by Stella Aldwinckle. Who founded the #Oxford Socratic Club in 1941, whose first president was #CSLewis.

edit: sorry that was the wrong link I copypasted into this post. Here's the one I should have used: pillars.taylor.edu/inklings_fo

  8. Inklings forum for discussion of #theology and #literature, after the fashion of the Oxford #Inklings, with a subforum for #writers to discuss their #WIP (works in progress)

  9. Ten years ago a group of us met in an Arcadia coffee shop to talk about literature and theology, perhaps after the manner of the Oxford Inklings. We decided to meet once a month, and did so until Covid put an end to such gatherings, and here is a record of our first meeting.

Two of the founding members, David Levey, of the English Department at Unisa, and Tony MacGregor, have since died (though not of Covid), so we haven't been able to revive it. It was an example of a "third space" gathering (the first two "spaces" being home and work).

  10. #WritersCoffeeClub 3.1 — What is the fundamental goal you seek to achieve with your current WIP?

To follow C.S. Lewis's comment to J.R.R. Tolkien: if we want more of the kind of stories we like, we shall have to write them ourselves.
