  6. Hung out with these awe-inspiring librarians today to chat about our favourite thing for an hour at #National24 (ALIA National), celebrating the #OER movement in Australasia and strategising our way around the challenges still ahead.

Katy Henry (CAUL) did an exceptional job facilitating our discussion while Sarah McQuillen discussed UniSA’s textbook minimisation project and navigating the barriers to integrating OER into course materials, Angie Williamson shared Deakin’s approach to ensuring quality and reliability in OER publishing, and Jennifer Hurley (RMIT) gave guidance on the institutional supports required to build sustainable open educational practice.

I spoke about measuring impact beyond cost, referring to Sarah Lambert’s insightful work on the 3Rs of social justice.

What a wonderful start to the conference! I can’t wait to dive into the other Open Ed sessions throughout the week 🤩 And am particularly keen to check out Emilia (emi-lee-ah) Bell’s session tomorrow giving us a glimpse into their PhD research “Open to diplomacy? Libraries, knowledge, and global challenges”.

P.S. Excited speaker landyard pic included because aahhh! What a vibe today!
