I'm searching for a (mis?) remembered statement to his #Denazification board by #Karajan, the German #Conductor (1908-1989).

I have found the deposition in Appendix C of Osborne's Herbert von Karajan: A Life In Music.

What I'm looking for are claims that an artist is above politics, that they live and work in a higher plane.

(I'm also finding no ready mention of his alleged statement to Osborne around Hitler of, "There is no monument to him.")

I grew up with this guy.

#Karajan's austere, severe photographs on covers of LPs mirrored my father's perpetual seriousness. The #DeutscheGrammophon logo would announce superiority and domination.
That yellow ribbon and #HerbertVonKarajan ruled over all of our household's vinyl. His #Beethoven was the paradigm.
To this day, I reflexively and uncritically equate DG with top quality.

50 years later, he's still my guy. Especially on a #Sunday. With a cat in my lap.
