Sorry, here is a specific #trainbubble question:
I am trying to have my bike on trains between Hamburg and Hirtshals on Sep 12. Being on the ECE 398 (Hamburg-Copenhagen) up to Kolding would be great, but...
1) DB first offers to reserve Hamburg-Kolding (or else Hamburg-Copenhagen) and then says "Reservierung nicht möglich"
2) DSB does not allow to book or reserve anything earlier than 2 months before departure
3) If I try DB, but only Hamburg-Padborg, it says "Stellplätze ausgebucht"Anyone has a trick for getting the bike on that train?
I know there are earlier trains, but I may or may not make a connection earlier that day, and the ECE398 would be my last chance to make it to the ferry in Hirtshals that day.
And having it in a bag (as I have done once before) is also not an option for this trip.

Heute ca. 1h vergeblich versucht, für die Ferienreise mit Interrail Platz-Reservierungen zu buchen: auf der Interrail-Webseite, Railfinder, SBB (online nicht möglich).
Dann ins BLS Reisezentrum und nach 5 Minuten mit allen nötigen Buchungen wieder draussen. #interrail #train #trainbubble -
Kleine Frage an die deutsche #trainbubble: Ich stelle gerade fest dass man eine Fahrradreservierung im ICE nicht stornieren kann (die Fahrradkarte schon, nicht aber die Reservierung). Das nervt mich nicht so sehr wegen der 7.50€ sondern weil dann höchstwahrscheinlich an diesem Tag eine Person weniger einen der wenigen Plätze bekommt.
Gibt es da sowas wie eine Tausch- oder Verschenkbörse? Ich würde den Platz gern weitergeben, denn nutzen kann ich ihn an dem Tag jetzt doch nicht:

So here is a #trainbubble question again. It may appear nerdy to some but for me, it is an important one.
In Sweden, the general hateful attitude of SJ to anyone with a bicycle is a known fact and has been one for years.
If you nevertheless want to cross the country, from Stockholm to Göteborg for example, what can you do?
Several sites point out that regional train companies, such as Mälartåg and others, generally are prepared to transport you and your bike, as they should be
But in Västergötland, where Göteborg is, the situation seems to be more complicated. The regional company, Västtrafik, seems to have lost the competition for regional train operation to ... SJ. From Örebro or Hallsberg, the two westernmost places still served by Mälartåg from Stockholm, nearly all regional trains to Göteborg are now "operated by SJ", except, strangely, two: one in the morning and one in the evening. I called Västtrafik and they confirmed that these two trains take bicycles.
But what about those "regional" trains run by SJ? Does their hateful attitude apply to them or, conversely, these trains being "regional", might one nevertheless be permitted to bring a bicycle?
Any help to find the answer would be appreciated (my trip will be in early October).

Train-bubble I need your help: I want my company to buy a ticket for a sleeper train from Munich -> Warsaw
The problem: on the DB site whenever I want to book the connection it shows me the reservation is not possible and I can't book without reservation. Any idea how to check if this is a possible journey or if it's fully booked?

But the fact that the country went from zero to over 70% (~50,000 km) of all globally operated high-speed rail in only two decades begs the question: What the F is everyone else doing?!?

Interessiert mich, kann im Netz jedoch nichts dazu finden. Vielleicht kennt jemand im Fediverse die Antwort: Was ist die längste Strecke (Zeit), die Mensch in der Schweiz im selben Zug fahren kann?

Getting around by public transport in Piemont, Italy is not really a viable option in most cases. The service is just too limited.
For our trip to Turin however, the train was definitely the best option. No toll roads, no traffic jams, no looking for a parking spot (a pay for it), instead a warm and comfortable ride.
Learned something new as well, that Hitachi apparently also builds trains.

The conductor is parading luggage above his head while rotating, from the luggage rack, that is too small to be not above the seats (carry-on size) through the car, asking for owners.I thought I knew everything about international train travel. Here it is - the final (if kinda ugly, I'm no good at design) version of the #EffectivePaxRailNet Polish Lands 1939 map!I drew it on paper and then digitized it with Inkscape, styling the lines with color and thickness to indicate the longest gaps between trains on the given sections. The dashed-not-dotted (slightly thicker) lines are generally ones with 6~6.5 pairs where my notes didn't clearly indicate the gaps were all smaller than 4h.
I used modern, or at least as modern as possible, Polish names everywhere (except for Kaliningrad Oblast, that place is complicated).
(And yeaaah, I really need to find somewhere I can host these things on a more permanent basis, especially including the original SVG - you can barely see the smallest captions due to Mastodon image size limits)

Hey #TrainBubble and #MastoTrain friends, a couple of years ago I used the wonderful #NightTrain from #Munich to #Ljubliana but when I search now (for October) this connection is nowhere to be found. I tried #DB #SNCB #Trainline and #EUrail.
Does it still exist and where would I book it best?
