This needs a LOT more work on the design, but the tech works

Overland on iOS to PhoneTrack in a NextCloud installation, and then some work to get the map to show correctly using the Mapbox API

Motivated by a question from @felixcremer about whether I would live track #LongestTrainEU as cyclists did in #tcr12, I had a go... and I can't get it to work as I would like

The #CrossBorderRail project between Freiburg and Colmar may be dead after the state of Baden-Württemberg has stopped the planning.

This isn’t entirely surprising. The treaty for reactivation was made between France and the German federal government but the state government was supposed to pay for it all.

This may just be a gamble to push the feds to pay their share, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Today @quixoticgeek, @darkphoenix, @MagicLike, @wendy and I are continuing our North of Spain trip.

Over the last few (mostly) toot-free days, we went from Mataporquera to Bilbao and Bilbao to Donostia. Today we are heading off to Hendaia to see off @darkphoenix and @MagicLike on their way off back to Germany.

@quixoticgeek, @wendy and I will be sightseeing in Hendaye today and spending another night at Donostia.

This is one of the few #CrossBorderRail services in Europe that has a half-way decent service regularity, at once in each direction every 30 minutes, but it only has one station in France, the terminal at Hendaia (Hendaye). There are more regular local trains at both sides of the border, but this Euskotren regional train crosses the river and goes all the way to Lasarte via Donostia.

The case seems to be progressing, I have... a "case number". Maybe not a cold case, but a lukewarm one, I'm told I'll be recontacted within 72 hours to set up a payment (because in addition of not having a Dutch bank account, I stubbornly refuse to use #paypal). Complicated, but possibly working?!

If so, what do I need? Will they e.g. ask me for a paper photo, for my birth certificate translated in Dutch, for a #crossBorderRail T-shirt or for my collection of HOTNAT forms ?

(In my attempts at getting both this and the NL museums card, I also found that one needs a NL address or is not really eligible)

#Trains in the #Netherlands : I'll be travelling by myself and then with 3 other people, by train, between Rotterdam, Utrecht, Amsterdam and Friesland in September, mostly at off-peak times.

The discount card "Dal Voordeel" would be very appropriate. But it seems that I need a physical card, the #OVchipkaart.

Trying to order it, I seem to need a NL bank account. I once obtained the message I'd need to go to a service desk if having a UE bank.

Can someone confirm I could?

We’re nearly in Prague. It was a fun journey, despite the Deutsche Bahn X-factor. Highly recommend it, and do look out of the window for gorgeous nature after Dresden.

Today’s #CrossBorderRail trip: Kolding to Prague, via Hamburg and Berlin. Was supposed to be a direct train but DB decided to replace a bridge and cancelled the ComfortJet.
Starting with 30 minutes delay, per tradition.

And last but not least there are going to be 50 #LongestTrainEU postcards printed - to give to train staff along the route, telling them they were part of the record bid! #CrossBorderRail
