  1. UK folks who have chosen a provider for Right to Choose ADHD assessment: Who did you go with and were they good/quick?

I have been looking at reviews and they are confusing and scary. #ADHD #RightToChoose

  2. Well I'm gutted.
Just discovered a load of NHS trusts just quietly during neurodiversity week, halted Right to Choose for adhd and autism tests.
No announcements. No consultation. Just stopped.
For children waiting diagnosis for SEND assistance in education this is likely to cause irreparable harm... for adults with no advocates waiting diagnosis, struggling waiting for treatment they dont know might help.
Id like someone to ask the health secretary what is going on @ZackPolanski

This is not about protecting users. It’s about monopolizing distribution, tightening control, and extracting profit at the expense of freedom and diversity. Google’s hypocrisy is blatant: the so-called guardian of safety repeatedly hosts malware on its own Play Store.

Jfc. Texas is a misogynist hellscape

“While this particular data point explicitly mentioned an abortion, scores of others in the audit logs released through public records requests simply list "investigation" as the reason for the plate search, with no indication of the alleged offense. That means other searches targeting someone for abortion, or another protected right in that jurisdiction, could be effectively invisible.

“This case underscores our growing concern: that the mass surveillance infrastructure—originally sold as a tool to find stolen cars or missing persons—is now being used to target people seeking reproductive healthcare. This unchecked, warrant-less access that allows law enforcement to surveil across state lines blurs the line between “protection” and persecution.”

  5. Edit: it's probably too late as MPs take forever to reply

There are dire changes to Right to Choose being forced through parliament right now without any public consultation seriously affecting people seeking #ADHD assessment - These changes would limit Right to Choose assessments to approximately 25-40 people PER AREA PER YEAR
It would also limit access to medication.

  6. This is a big win for reproductive rights in the United States.

NY Governor Hochul signed a bill to ensure doctors who provide abortion medication to patients outside the State have legal protection

Maggie Carpenter is a New York physician who’s been indicted for prescribing abortion medication to a Louisiana patient

This new bill will ensure no doctor in New York can be charged for assisting with a person’s right to choose.

Governor Hochul also stated she would never “under any circumstances” turn Carpenter over to Louisiana

  7. In Alabama - where there’s a total abortion ban - the rate of infant mortality is skyrocketing.

“It spiked to 7.8 deaths per 1,000 live births – up from 6.7 in 2022 – with 449 newborns dying before reaching their first birthday”

Lawmakers seem to only care about the fetus until its birth (if they ever cared at all).

Once the baby is born - they couldn’t care less what happens to it (or its mother).

People are being forced to carry pregnancies they can’t mentally, physically or financially handle. They aren’t given proper pre-natal care. Many can’t access care at all.

What possible benefit is there to forcing people to carry babies to term - only to let them die soon afterwards?

You’re risking the life of the mother AND baby unnecessarily - and then you turn around and claim to be “pro life”

These bans are the opposite of pro-life.

They’re costing lives. They’re causing untold amounts of trauma. They can also cause medical emergencies that impact a person’s future ability to get pregnant.

They can disproportionately harm disabled people who may have additional reasons for not being able to safely carry a pregnancy to term

They can also result in people becoming trapped in abusive relationships and situations - because they are too sick/pregnant to leave.

Abortion IS healthcare. Bodily autonomy should be a human right for all.

  8. CW: Mental health recovery update: work; meds: depression, anxiety; ADHD, executive dysfunction, neurodivergent burnout

    Hey folks 👋

For those who don't already know, we're currently signed off work due to depression, anxiety, and burnout.

Our employer is supportive, but there are multiple, fundamental, ongoing issues with the organisation that no amount of individual support can resolve. We cannot go into more detail.

During the last 2 and a bit weeks, we've done a mixture of resting and doing tasks we've been meaning to do for ages, but neither had the time nor spoons to do.

We're still on 200 mg sertraline (an SSRI) daily, but we've made the switch from taking 150 mg bupropion (an NDRI) daily alongside to 40 mg atomoxetine (an sNRI, not an SNRI) daily alongside. We're slowly titrating up to the recommend 80 mg dose.

As we came off the bupropion steadily, we definitely felt it (i.e., mood; executive function; energy etc.), but the effects are levelling off as our atomoxetine dose steadily increases.

The bupropion had helped us for a while, both with our mental health and some ADHD struggles, but could only do so much. As such, we decided to make the unorthodox switch to atomoxetine.

Bupropion is an atypical NDRI and antidepressant: it boosts noradrenaline and dopamine (to a lesser extent). However, it's only prescribed off licence for ADHD, as it's not been shown to be effective. Atomoxetine, conversely, is mainly used to treat ADHD in people who do not respond well to stimulants, such as methylphenidate. It directly boosts noradrenaline and indirectly boosts dopamine in the prefrontal cortex by a decent amount.

Since we do not tolerate any stimulants well (even caffeine), atomoxetine is our best bet in terms of an ADHD med that also helps with our mental health.

Unlike bupropion, it doesn't have any major interactions with sertraline (only moderate), and we can take 40 mg propranolol tablets alongside to help keep our anxiety under control, rather than turning straight to 10 mg diazepam tablets.

So far, we're doing well with the switch, both physically and mentally, but it'll be a while before we know for sure whether this the ideal medication combination.

We are still very much in low power recovery mode, so don't expect anything much or consistent from us.

A last note to sign this off: from the above listed drugs, the only one we can currently get via the NHS is sertraline. We may be able to get atomoxetine through the NHS in the future, but that's dependent on us ever actually getting a formal ADHD diagnosis 😮‍💨 The waiting lists are rather long... even when using the Right To Choose a mental health service provider.

    Apologies for any typos.

  13. Greetings from #Missouri, where abortion access is largely curtailed, but the right to choose is on the ballot as a constitutional amendment.

The anti-abortion folks are well-funded (thanks religion and HandEgg SportsBall) and seem totally OK to lie on their billboards.

    “Protect women!”
    “Women are already protected!”
    “Abortions through nine months!”
    “Preserve families!”

    So disgusting, so cringe.

Our gerrymandered state government fought HARD to keep it off the ballot. And is already preparing a challenge when we win.

While I certainly acknowledge the malign influence of male power #politics on the abortion debate, I think at the same time most men are woefully under-educated on just how fraught and complicated the world of bearing a #child can be.
