I have become so fluent in communism, having read so much postcolonial and decolonial scholarship, that I circled back to political theology, where I started; didn't I tell you I used to be a political dawah activist in Uni? I digress. Maybe. But men are so helpless and useless that I don't even have the energy to curse them anymore. One of these days, I should probably show people that code-switching is a skill you can easily master if you've been living with contradictions long enough; it extends beyond linguistics into epistemological registers as well.

I hate it.
Whenever a qualified woman gets a prominent job, there’s always a little parade of men crawling out of the gutter to question whether she’s really qualified. And by "little", I mean big.
An old white bloke with an office job questioning a master’s degree. A guy with “some college” challenging the academic worth of a doctorate.
Seriously? 😂
For some of these lads, the only qualification that seems to matter is apparently being male. What a spectacularly silly way to measure competence. Do we use centimetres or inches? ;)
And, for the record: I don’t have a master’s degree or a doctorate either. Many of my students have had them, or worked towards them. I know perfectly well what an enormous amount of work, discipline and learning goes into earning one. I respect the hell out of it.

I’m mostly interested in teaching, translation, and the practical application of my knowledge. I’m basically the plumber of sentence structure and conjugations. I'm Miles Edward O'Brien, not Jadzia Dax, so to speak. 🔧📚
Yes, I probably should have done more than a weird assortment of bachelors. But then I discovered travelling the world, going out to teach people, having my own business, and frankly… that seemed much more enticing.
People are different. :)
Funny old thing, really. We might even learn something from that. :)
