We've walked past this forest before, and never realised it was public.

Nice view of the river from the very steep bank.
(Not a lot of space for a road to go, except right next to the river for several miles)
- Pros: lovely walk

Their branches draw across the sky.
To write their memories, in a long forgotten language.
(The branch tips are 300+ yr old beech trees that line the River Road - the few that are left.
There's something incredibly sentient and uncanny about them..)

There's a little lake round the back! (It's fenced off and private tho - I'm leaning over the gate, not trespassing)

Google still has a route here, a route that hasn't existed for decades 😌
Even the track is gone, only trees and flattish ground mark where it used to be.
The bypass is 30yrs old.
The Old Road must have been here for centuries, winding between farms. How quickly things disappear..

View sans wolfy. I call this the Hobbit Walk - it loops around my village, past a small manor house, but is reaaalllly popular in summer so we tend to avoid it (lot of stress w unleashed visitors dogs - the law changed, but most people are ignoring it)

Different semi-abandoned meadow. Last year a guy in an incredibly ancient tractor WAS cutting and bailing the weedy grass.
Nobody bothered this year..

#SilentSunday - view from a small farm we walk past sometimes.
We are walking v early BC of the heat wave and noisy festival all weekend.
(Am soooo not a morning person)
Worse, I have to travel/get back late and night walk tomorrow, then flip back to dawn walks bc it might be 40°C.
A whole new level of insomniac zombie mode just waiting to be unlocked.. 🥴

#landscapes from a hike last week. I need to clear out my camera roll!
I love love thin hazy fairweather clouds. They add such interesting textures to the skies, and filter the sun - natural soft light and jewel landscape colours.
(It also makes hiking uphill a lot more bearable)

For every photo I post, I take about 10 more of random things/views that look cool and I want to preserve
My poor dog understands "photographer mode".

#SilentSunday a #NiceView from our hike 2 weekends ago.
About 7km away, the ground rises and there's an incredible view - if you can find it, that is.
The slope was logged here, so there's a peephole. Everywhere else is thickly forested.
There's a lovely walk circuiting the mountain behind me.

(Couldn't climb hills for a while.. so boy it looks different to last time, a nice surprise!)
