  1. 28/05/2026 - Evening walk to the shop. We took the long way to see if the oxeye daisies were out yet by the big road. They were and they looked just lovely.

  6. There were birds swooping over the herd, presumably catching the insects disturbed by the movements of the cows.

  13. 13/05/2026 - Not long now until one of my favourite wild flowers line the sides of the big road in a sea of white again. The wonderful big flower of oxeye daisy.

  21. 08/05/2026 - It's been a rubbish day. My head is all over the place. Everything just seems to be going wrong. Weather is grey and rainy. I had to get out of the house after work, I didn't go far but I needed the air. There was a little forget-me-not growing by the roadside. A little wonder to come across that made me smile for the first time today. Getting home I managed to fuse the sockets in the house when I put the toaster on but who cares, I've got forget-me-nots in my life!

  22. 06/05/2026 - Evening walk up Bennachie. I've not really been walking much away from the local patch this year so it was good to get away a bit farther and visit my favourite hill. We were at the top for sunset. I can't remember the last time I've visited this hill in the light. Nice to get a view of the surrounding countryside though I did miss the stars. We heard cuckoos on the way up.

  23. 05/05/2026 - A sunny evening walk after work. We came across climbing corydalis in flower on the back road and a tiny heather beetle. There's always interesting things to see on a slow walk.

  24. 30/04/2026 - Evening walk up and round the hill. The sunshine was lovely. I saw and picked up crossbill on the Merlin app for the first time on a walk from the house which was pretty magic. My favourite thing of the walk though was bird cherry in blossom by the roadside. The flowers are so nice. A happy making tree to come across this evening.

  25. 29/04/2026 - Roundabout midnight

A little nod to Thelonious as we walked past the roundabout on the big road at midnight on our way to find the night.

  26. 29/04/2026 - Evening walk after work on the quiet roads. The world round here is turning green again. The road will be in shade once the leaves open fully for the summer months. The sunshine today made everything look so nice.

  27. 28/04/2026 - A few things I met on my evening walk.

A chocolate mining bee enjoying the sunshine and a magpie moth caterpillar climbing up a lamp post.

  32. 27/04/2026 - Evening walk to the bottle bank. It was a bit grey out. The walk through the industrial estate normally cheers me up as it's good for wild flowers but there were humans about tonight. They are just great at turning anything nice to shit. Still this thyme-leaved speedwell by the roadside was nice to see.

  33. Lusha wants to go to the river (down the track).

But to get there, we have to 🔆🔥Run The Gauntlet🔥🔆 (shadeless, still 20°C at 7pm).

It's all of 10mins (with a cool bath at the other end) but boy, am I happy to see some leaves here finally..

  34. 24/04/2026 - Evening walk to celebrate making it to the weekend. It's not been the best of weeks. It was a lovely twilight walk round the hill. Plenty of birds calling night to each other in the fading light. A couple of tawny owls flew overhead and lots of bats. My head was grateful for the calm and to be away from the house for a few hours.

  35. 23/04/2026 - I went looking for bumblebees on my evening walk and all I got was a wasp. It's been that sort of day. Bit rubbish to be honest. Feeling tired and stressed. Life's tricky sometimes, thank goodness for the sunshine, wild flowers and even the odd wasp to help cheer me up a little.

  36. 21/04/2026 - I probably toot too many photos from my evening walks but there's so much lovelyness out there! This new hazel leaf really caught my eye. I had to stop for a quick snap and to say hello.

  37. 21/04/2026 - Evening walk after work. We passed a fine old tree stump that had some pretty magic fungi on it.

I think these two are fairy inkcap/trooping crumble cap (both excellence names!) and brittle cinder. Please correct me if my id is rubbish as I'm not good with fungi 😃

  38. 20/04/2026 - Evening walk. I was feeling sleepy after a busy day. The cows were proper friendly this evening. They all came over to say hello and we said hello back.

  39. 18/04/2026 - After a busy day of doing stuff we headed out into the evening to find the night. A nice walk up and round the hill. Night wasn't until 11.15pm. Only a few weeks left until it goes completely until August. Quiet out tonight, pretty chilly but OK. Faint aurora on the way back and a shooting star.
