#SilentSunday A very mossy tree. Except it's all dried out..
June in this part of France should be cool and rainy, and the thick mosses and lichens that coat the trees reflect that.
Instead it's 35°C today, and has been unusually dry for months.

From the other end.. the road line much clearer, but the trees are dying here (competition? Thinner soil?).
There are gaps, and trees dying back.
Beech trees can live to 350 years, there are some twice the size along the river road.

I see trees,
Starting to green,
Still bare trees,
(No bloody leaves)
And I think to myself,
There's no shade in these woods..It has been baking hot / dry every day this April.
Leaves appeared at the lower altitudes, but on the hilltops where I live, still nothing.
We finally got some rain showers this week and voila! It has begun.

#PhotoOfTheDay Tree Tunnel.
This is an old lane I walked past hundreds of times, without realising it was there (totally overgrown).
The council cleared it a few years ago, for the cross country marathon that takes place here every year.
(I just found out we're also on the Tour de France route this year!!)
