Need a new laptop soon. Just ordered a #SteamDeck for this purpose, now all I need is a #lapdock!
I've heard of #NexDock and #uperfect, but neither is available to order in my region and I might have to go with whatever fake brand I find on Amazon. If anyone has any experience or tips to share here, I'd love to hear it!

But I wanted to share an idea I read on here about the #neo if a mobile phone can run the MacOS, what stops one from using the phone as the PC core if you will with something like the #NexDock. Do you think an Iphone or an Android 16 could just use a cheap nexdock in it stead? Be curious if TheVerge would up to test that out. :)

Anyone made use of a lapdock like #nexdock on here? Curious as I am considering it for at home with the #SteamDeck and eventually on the road with my #murena phone when they add that feature, but I am barely on the road with the need.

@Bluegrass_Addict @bruhbeans Agreed. Doesn't Android 16 already have the ability to "run Linux as an app?" Even on Android 15 and earlier people do this using @termux, proot, etc.
The dodgy surveillance OSes, Google Android and #Microslop Windows, get installed on the device, while the trustworthy OS, Debian #GNULinux, gets installed as a constrained and restricted app?
Whatever happened to people's brains?

Today, I discovered Localdesktop. It installs a Linux desktop on your phone based on Arch. I'm installing it now. I think is going to do great with my Nexdock I ordered.Local Desktop helps you run a desktop Linux environment on your Android device.

I have a NexDock 360 (2-in-1/tent-able model) and its great; but they seem to do a model for a bit and discontinue it. Hopefully they release a new 360 model.I appreciate the move to a full-size HDMI port; keeping track of the mini HDMI cable has been challenging.

been using my #pinephonepro with the #nexdock daily for all my engineering classes for about a month now, and loving it so far! some programs i was pleasantly surprised by include #logisim, #rnote, and #eclipseide. i didn't expect these programs to work well but they are actually so useful and work just as well, if not a bit slower, than on my thinkpad. up next i'll need to install #wine and #ltspice for more circuit design :)

I wish there was a Lap Dock that didn't suck in some way. NexDock is OK, but the trackpad is GARBAGE and the palm rejection is a joke (its disables the mouse entirely if you press any key). Plus it can't output enough power to charge my Steam Deck while in use so I need a splitter to charge and use my Steam Deck at the same time, and the USB ports don't have enough power to run an external HDD.
Every other Lap Dock I can find is a clone or worse

what am i doing? just improving my blog by editing the `barf` build script to fit my needs! attached is a screenshot of what i'm doing right now sitting on my couch with my #pinephone connected to the #nexdock. my goal is to get a title and subtitle to show above the navbar in the header that is generated based off the first few lines of each article's markdown file. i've already succeeded in making this work for the landing page!

I have a crazy idea of turning a #SteamDeck into a full laptop via a modded #NexDock. Maybe by soldering the USB ports together? But there would need to be hardware mods to let the NexDock output 45-65w to power the Deck motherboard...
Plus I'd need like $600 to buy a 2nd Steam Deck and NexDock which I do not have at all...

you'll never guess what came today! the #nexdock 360 running off my linux phone is here. i reconfigured my #convergence setup to suit it, and i've ordered a phone mount, shorter usb-c cable, and a case for the lapdock. so far it's been fantastic to use. a first impressions article on the blog is coming soon!

so despite advice to get an old thinkpad and use that for school, the appeal of a #nexdock was just too much. i bought one! my deciding factor is that i recently found not 1 but 2 old x86 laptops that i can put arch on and use in case i need to use proprietary software unavailable on ARM. i'll be sure to do a first impressions review once i recieve the lapdock. i also grabbed a shorter usb-c cable and a magnetic mount for the pinephone for ease of use

i just discovered the #nexdock and i'm really excited. ever since i started using my #pinephone in desktop #convergence i've wanted to find a laptop shell that i could turn into a convergence device, and the nexdock ticks all the boxes. to any users of the linux phone and nexdock, what's your experience with the devices been like? thanks to the @linmob weekly update for introducing me to this via the purism post about it!

So,... mal wieder am #Librem5 mit #NexDock ... die letzten Updates von #PureOS haben dem kleinen Linux Smartphone wirklich einen starken usability boost verpasst. Endlich kann man Swipen um die Notificationleiste runter bzw. die Appliste und Taskswitcher hochzuholen. Flotter ist es gefühlt auch geworden. Super arbeit @purism !

My brain is 🤯 rn. I'm going on a trip and I was thinking about which laptop I want to bring (I have a bunch of old laptops lying around that people give me). I realized I can use my #SteamDeck as a laptop by docking it with my #Nexdock !! This didn't even occur to me as a possibility before now. This is so cool. -
