Need a new laptop soon. Just ordered a #SteamDeck for this purpose, now all I need is a #lapdock!

I've heard of #NexDock and #uperfect, but neither is available to order in my region and I might have to go with whatever fake brand I find on Amazon. If anyone has any experience or tips to share here, I'd love to hear it!

Razer Linda was a prototype #lapdock showcased 7 years ago at CES.
A laptop-shaped shell that had a slot for phone instead of a touchpad.
A concept that I would really like to try out.
Project seems to have been abandoned, and there was no successor.
All right, then question is, how to make it by yourself?
Are there any projects that provide schematics or components for building this kind of thing?
If not, is anyone willing to help me brainstorm possible ways of crafting this?

Make a #lapdock with a hole for phone instead of a touchpad.
Like Razer Linda was meant to be.
Use the existing Framework case, screen and other components.
But no need for expensive processor and other electronics, as phone will provide all of that.
Android is about to get improved desktop mode soon, so there will be more interest for lapdocks.

Yesterday I recieved a new, cheap lapdock I ordered last week. It's Dopesplay's lower end lapdock and was $130 CAD.

I've wanted to be able to use my phone as the only computer i carry around or use at home for a long time and recent Android updates make that not only possible but actually enjoyable.

I'm happy with the lapdock so far and look forward to putting it to more use soon.

Acabo de descubrir la existencia de los #lapdocks y tengo claro que tenemos que quitarnos la idea de que los #smartphones son teléfonos y empezar a considerarlos computadoras de bolsillo, con todo lo que eso conlleva.

Para quien no lo sepa: si tu smartphone tiene puerto USB-C con salida de vídeo DisplayPort (DP Alt Mode), puedes conectarlo a uno de estos cacharros con forma de laptop y utilizarlo como si fuera una computadora de escritorio.

Ahora sí que tengo ganas de que #Android lance oficialmente su #DesktopMode. Los Android de Samsung, Motorola y otras distribuciones Linux ya cuentan con su propias adaptaciones de este sistema, pero estaría genial que fuese algo más normalizado.

I recently bought myself an old 2018 Intel Mac Mini to use with my lap-dock setup in my bedroom.

I was hoping to set up a dual boot with macOS and Linux (Fedora); unfortunately, the WiFi drivers don't work out of the box...

I tried to install the broadcom-wl driver but instead of fixing the WiFi, it also broke the Ethernet connection as well...

Kind of bummed the WiFi doesn't work out of the box, everything else about it works great with Linux!

I guess I can always try again, once Apple no longer offers the latest version of macOS for this Mac Mini

I wish there was a Lap Dock that didn't suck in some way. NexDock is OK, but the trackpad is GARBAGE and the palm rejection is a joke (its disables the mouse entirely if you press any key). Plus it can't output enough power to charge my Steam Deck while in use so I need a splitter to charge and use my Steam Deck at the same time, and the USB ports don't have enough power to run an external HDD.

Every other Lap Dock I can find is a clone or worse
