I see a post that "crossposts/embeds/boosts" another post

If I click on the embed, it loads on the OP's instance

I can't star/reply etc to OP

How do I get to see the OP via *my* instance so that I can interact with it? (I tried URL hacking mastodon.social to ohai.social but that didn't work, "not found" error)

#Mastodon Experts: Why do some URLs show thumbnail previews, and some do not? For example, if I share a YouTube link, my post shows a generic YouTube gray thumbnail. On other user’s posts, sometimes it’s literally just the URL text at the bottom of their posts, without any thumbnail. Finally, on other user’s posts, there is a thumbnail preview. What causes this?

So I've been using the #mastodon app and it doesn't exactly work correctly every day so does anyone know if there's a better app to use for it? My notifications won't go away most of the time and I don't get notifications for everything and I miss stuff that otherwise I'd reply to.

But.... is there a way I can do this with ActivityPub tools like WriteFreely or Plume and then embed my text from there into a toot here? Or do I need to find (or create) an instance for this purpose?
