#Mastodon Experts: Why do some URLs show thumbnail previews, and some do not? For example, if I share a YouTube link, my post shows a generic YouTube gray thumbnail. On other user’s posts, sometimes it’s literally just the URL text at the bottom of their posts, without any thumbnail. Finally, on other user’s posts, there is a thumbnail preview. What causes this?

I forgot to add a text reader description to my last post but when I try and edit to add it, it comes up with an error. Has anyone else had this problem? I don't want to delete and redo the post as I only noticed hours later, and it has comments.

I am currently using Mastodon's official app but I keep hearing about other apps that let you follow hashtags. Although I see the official app has added this to its IOS version, so I assume, at some point, the android app will get this feature too? But this would be a very handy feature to have.

Hi! Some people are on server instances where the max char count is much higher than 500 chars. And it seems this is a hack or compile time option?
But.... is there a way I can do this with ActivityPub tools like WriteFreely or Plume and then embed my text from there into a toot here? Or do I need to find (or create) an instance for this purpose?

The only website I have is an Adobe Portfolio site that is linked to my Behance account. I do have my own domain redirected to it. I don’t think I can create a button or text link with the Mastodon verification anchor tag. Adobe also restricts what can be in an iframe to certain major companies like YouTube. Anyone know a workaround so I can verify using what I have described? #MastodonHelp #MastodonHelp4Newbies #verification
