Alors, on retourne tester Sway avec Endeavour OS! 🐧 💜

Mon experience pour les prochaines soirees sera de prendre les elements de sway et de les placer pour labwc afin d'avoir un systeme similaire mais sans utiliser des tuiles. Je garde Sway quand meme pour basculer en mode "tuiles" au besoin 🤓 .

L'image de droite est une image de reference car labwc tout nu tout nu, pas be bas, ca ressemble a ca!

Je rajoute un clavier francais aussi! 😉

ENFIN, J'ai trouvé comment changer de clavier avec l'environnement de bureau #budgie sur #Linux : La configuration se retrouve dans /usr/share/budgie-desktop/labwc dans le fichier rc.xml . Disons que le petit coquin d'oiseau est sortie de la nomenclenture de #labwc pour choisir l'endroit 🤪

Parlant de #labwc pour la gestion des fenêtres: Budgie semble reconnaître partiellement les fichiers de configuration (pas les boutons). J'ai pu quand même rajouter des fichiers de config...

I've been using #Labwc on my old #Thinkpad as a lightweight #KDE alternative, which is pretty nice too. An #Openbox alternative for #Wayland.

Donc #opensuse à été la première distribution à permettre l'environnement de bureau #xfce en session #wayland grâce à #labwc , un compositeur pour gérer la dite session Wayland. Chapeau aux développeurs! Ceci étant dit, il reste du peaufinage à faire et je suis content d'avoir essayé labwc avec #lxqt avant et de comprendre où chercher les soluces pour pouvoir changer de clavier et avoir une barre de fenêtre acceptable.

Woah, avant de refaire une installation fraîche de #cosmic sur #endeavouros , j'ai décidé de tester le rajout de #COSMIC sur mon autre portable qui roule #Endeavouros avec #lxqt en #Wayland avec #labwc et les résultats sont... bizarres lol.

La capture d'écran fonctionne MAIS j'ai un minimum de trois applis qui ne fonctionnent pas donc le Terminal de COSMIC. J'ai donc utilisé celui de #lxqt (appelé qt terminal) pour vérifier ce qui se passe.

Bonjour tout le monde et desole pour le manque d'accent: je teste donc #endeavour en #wayland avec #labwc et la gestion pour changer de clavier ne fonctionne pas ni sur le parametrage de lxqt ni sur labwc lol, joie. On fait quand meme les mises a jour sur Ganymede et on regarde si on peut aussi essayer le labwc tweaks en version GTK et harmoniser la session qt en GTK donc le tout serait plus homogene quoi!

Autre option: verifier si Kwin, le compositeur de KDE peut gerer GTK et mon clavier. A+!

If you don't use X11-dependant apps you can disable XWayland in your compositor for better performance. E.g., `$ (export WLR_XWAYLAND=; labwc)`. Then `$ (export WAYLAND_DISPLAY=wayland-0; firefox)`.

Labwc for Wayland is the most lightweight losing only to a naked virtual console (TUI, w/o any GUI). And no, afaik you can't use bare Wayland w/o any compositor (labwc, cage-kiosk, e.g.) because someone has to handle user input, screen drawing, etc.

I'm thinking about using Sway instead of LabWC for the main compositor for Retiled since I think it should allow me to focus windows with swaymsg by passing window IDs to the thing that does focusing (in swaymsg) and I can make all the windows floating and I'm pretty sure maximized with no border. Grim supports using the ID from swaymsg, too. You can specify your own config file when starting Sway which is what Sxmo does, so I'll do that.

Короче, я применил патч и решил воспользоваться watch'ером, который предлагал автор.

Скажу одно: Оно работает. Версия River'a 0.3.12-dev.2+63542fd (которая по умолчанию). Патч для него приложил ниже. Посмотрю, как его в 0.4.0-dev прикрутить.

А как теперь отобразить адекватно вывод... Уже другой вопрос.
Но автор ещё предлагает пропатченный i3status-rust, но это не eww/astal и прочее.

Проблема пришла откуда не ждали.
riverctl позволяет мне выставить раскладку, но через него узнать текущую раскладку не получается. Да, у меня раскладка переключается через CapsLock, но всё же хочется немного "человечного" индикатора где-то в баре.

Решил я сначала спросить у ребят в discord-сервере unixporn, вдруг кто-то уже это решил (если что, я не пользуюсь waybar'ом, я хотел узнать, можно ли как-то узнать данную информауию путём вывода её в терминал). Откликнулся один человек, который решил поискать по такому запросу. Он смог найти лишь с располодением окон (window layout), но не с раскладкой клавиатуры, на что я, после параллельного поиска, ответил, что такого даже в riverctl и не задумано.

БОЛЕЕ ТОГО, не я один на это жаловался.
Оказывается, у них в задачах уже 2 года висит задача #831 (Support for querying current keyboard layout), название которой говорит само за себя. Даже нашёлся смелый малец, кто сделал решение проблемы #753 (river-status: add keyboard_layout event), но разработчик отклонил это, сказав, что это должно быть решено не на стороне оконника, а на стороне wlroots, и вообще, в LabWC точно такая же проблема #1317 (Support keyboard layout indicators via keyboard_layout protocol)

Технически, я согласен, ибо если начать такую пляску, то можно развести зоопарк из wlroots'а, чего очень не хочется...
Но у меня возникает вопрос: а реализуют ли?
(Сейчас проверяю GitLab wlroot'а в поисках данного вопроса, и чего-то похожего я не особо вижу)

Хочу спросить у вас, господа линуксоиды, великие рисовары, как решить сия проблему?

@mms On the two #openbsd’s I use #openbox, on #alpinelinux it is the #wayland #openbox cousin #labwc. Except for a clock my desktop is empty as in no icons. Menus a mouse button away. Background color #rebeccapurple
