"SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Major social media platforms such as Instagram and YouTube have failed to protect LGBTQ+ users from hate and harassment, in part, because they intentionally rolled back previous safety practices, the advocacy group GLAAD said Tuesday in its annual Social Media Safety Index.
"The report said that recent “unprecedented hate speech policy rollbacks” from Instagram and Facebook parent Meta Platforms and Google’s YouTube are “actively undermining the safety of LGBTQ people” both online and offline. Meta’s rollback now allows users to call LGBTQ people “mentally ill,” among other policy changes."

"A minute's of silence was observed before kick-off for the Magdeburg market incident, where a car ploughed into a crowd at a Christmas market.
During the minute, one of the fans shouted ‘Germany for Germans’. The culprit of the Magdeburg tragedy is alleged to be a Saudi Arabia national, with about 200 people injured and some dead. This slogan is one often used during the Nazi Germany era.
His words were immediately booed sharply and loudly. This slogan was also followed by a response of 'Nazis out' by other fans in the stadium.

Sacred texts, including the Bible and Quran, contain not only edifying teachings but passages that appear to incite, or at the very least condone, bigotry and hatred towards nonbelievers and followers of different faiths. Even when it is understood that such texts need to be read in their historical context and must not and perhaps never were intended to be taken literally, familiarity is likely to inure us to their implications. We may simply never have thought about them from the point of view of the 'others' they explicitly or implicitly condemn. The relevant passages need to be interpreted with frankness and courage, and their assumptions made conscious and challenged.
My wife and I were visiting a cathedral when it was announced that Evensong was about to commence. Since we often find services of other faiths moving, we decided to stay. During worship, a scriptural passage was read with uncomfortable implications about Jews. 'Of course, they don't understand it like that; I reassured myself, while thinking, 'Perhaps they do? This troubling experience left me asking myself how my own liturgy might make others feel….
