Day 3: Hand of Glory from Folktober
Sounds like a lot of effort to make one of these, I don't think I could be bothered.
Also I’ve seen these candles from a few spooky retailers and even though I love them I’m not sure I could have one in my house 😅#drawtober #drawtoberovergrowncemetery #folktober3 #folktober #linocut #spookyseason #handofglory #occult #spells #witchcraft #cemetery #candle #goth

CW: Link contains pictures of severed hand
This is the second most macabre thing I've ever seen.
You cut off the hand of a hanged man, pickle and dry it, and then use that hand to hold a candle made of the fat of the dead man.

CW: Hand of glory; parts of dead bodies
You know what creeps me out? Hands of glory. Just the word "glory" sends a shiver down my spine. Whoever came up with hands of glory ought to be ashamed.
You know what else creeps me out? Brocken spectres. And you know what the halo around those is called? A glory, that's what. Creepy as hell.
This is a picture of a hand of glory, and some of the ingredients used to make one.
This drawing is small in real life, 2.5" x 2.5".

CW: Inktober Day 7, "Enchanted." (mildly gruesome but not gory)
#inktober day 7, "Enchanted."
#linocut, 3"x4"
From Wikipedia: "A Hand of Glory is the dried and pickled hand of a male person who has been hanged, often specified as being the left (Latin: sinister) hand, or, if the man was hanged for murder, the hand that 'did the deed.' "
