Very easy to edit, very easy to parse, no formatting bullshit like JSON or XML and a human can actually read it (I've spent perhaps a few too many hours editing Skyrim and fallout configs in this format, but a lot of Windows programs use it. I think there's a python library form it, but honestly it's super easy to write your own parser for it because it is so minimalist)

Java's final classes stifling innovation

I wanted to extend Optional for seamless integration of my TypeMap library. Fluent, functional, and reflection-free. But nope, Optional is final. Now I’m stuck recreating and syncing its methods manually. Final or Private classes don’t prevent misuse, they block creativity and create more mess when copying functionalities. I love final, but not on classes.

For me, the biggest #designflaw in #Mastodon is the absence of a #quote function. I would be very pleased if this option was added, finally.

There are lots of #justifications given; maybe some upper management even believes some of them. None of them hold water.

So an employee who can't use the tool to the utmost because he didn't attend the "optional" training won't be held to account or compared to others who took the training? Unlikely.
