There weren't enough seasons of the original #RodSerling #TwilightZone. That perfect combination of black and white film with the ideal incidental music and the clothing, hair styles and architecture of the early late 1950s/early 1960s is unbeatable. I've watched just about every anthology series I could get my hands on and the close second which was also amazing was Brian Clemens' #Thriller (UK). Modern attempts just don't quite get it right.

Well, that was a long haul, but I finished watching (or re-watching) all of the original #TwilightZone episodes. Like all shows, it was hit and miss, but mostly hit, and It was a product of its times, but not as much as other shows from that era. The message delivered was usually clever. I imagine it borrowed from earlier shows with which I'm unfamiliar, but it was original to me. #TV

I always liked to watch reruns of Twilight Zone growing up, but I had no idea that Rod Sterling was as eloquent and reflective as he is in this interview.
Basically the US media is happy to point out injustices as long as those injustices are in a far away land and the use of comedy to mask our own in the US. This might be where the “American Exceptionalism” stems from. Nightly programs that shows everyone else’s fucked shit but our own

As I continue working through Rod Serling's #TwilightZone, I have two more observations:
1. The #cigarette smoking. Growing up in the 70s and 80s, cigarette smoking was more prevalent than it is now, but I don't remember it being like this. If the episodes are a proper reflection of the 60s, then it's a wonder we didn't die out by my birth.
2. I continue to see its influence in media from every decade I've lived, but next up is S4, Ep12 (3/21/1963), "I Dream of Genie." That's a bit much.
