尼古拉停在一块高高的石头上，他比之前干净了一些，但他依然穿着同样破烂的裤子。他长着爪子的脚抓住了石头的边缘，阴影翅膀在空中轻轻扇动，他的眸子漆黑一片，眼神难以捉摸。 我一直希望他再次出现，可是现在他出现了，我却不知道要做什么。他之前就在看着我们吗？他看到了什么呢？他理解多少呢？
我小心翼翼地把手伸进了口袋，生怕任何突然的动作会让他立刻飞走。
我伸出了手，掌中托着兰佐夫家族的祖母绿戒指。他额头一蹙，眉毛之间出现了一条皱纹，接着他收起翅膀，悄无声息地从石头上跳了下来。当时很难不往后退却，我并不害怕，可是他移动的姿态实在不像人类。他慢慢逼近了我，注视着那枚戒指。当他离我只有不到一尺远的时候，他把头偏向了一侧。
尽管他的眼睛是黑色的，墨水般的细线一路延伸到了脖子上，可他的面庞依然优雅——颧骨轮廓精致，那来自于他的母亲，下颌线条硬朗，那想必来自于他的父亲。他眉头皱得更紧了。然后他伸出爪子，一把抓起了祖母绿。
“那是——”之后的话语消失在了我的唇边。尼古拉把我的手掌翻过来，将戒指戴到了我的手指上。什么美女与野兽，太地狱了

“对不起。”我小声说道。
“也许你是肚子饿了，”佐娅说，“我肚子饿的时候总会变得很刻薄。”
“你是不是一天到晚都肚子饿啊？”哈尔沙问道。
“你还没见过我刻薄的样子呢，如果你见到了，你会需要一块非常大的手帕的。”
他哼了一声，说道：“用手帕来擦眼泪吗？”
“用手帕来止血。”

佐娅把背包往地上一扔，整个人瘫倒在了上面。“你们好好看那该死的风景吧，我只想要一张温暖的床和一杯葡萄酒。”
图亚皱起了眉头：“这里是个圣地。”
“那太棒了，”她阴阳怪气地回应道，“看看你能不能给我祈祷出一双干袜子来吧。”无情干饭人Zoya

“巴格拉恨我。”戴维轻轻地说。
佐娅不屑地挥了挥手：“我们全都这样觉得。”
“不是的，她是真的恨我。她给我上了一节课，当时是和其他跟我同龄的物料能力者一起上的，之后她就拒绝再见我。我那时只好在别人去上她的课时待在工作间里。”
“为什么啊？”哈尔沙一边在阿猫的下巴上挠着，一边问道。
戴维耸了耸肩：“我不知道。”
“我知道是为什么。”珍娅说。我等着，心里好奇她是不是真的知道。“是动物性的吸引力，”她继续说道，“再与你在那小屋里多待一分钟啊，她就要上来扒光你的衣服了。”
戴维认真思考了一下：“那好像不太可能。”
“完全不可能。”玛尔和我异口同声。
“嗯，也不是完全不可能。”戴维说，看起来似乎有点受到了冒犯的意思。

我走入了环绕矿区的树林之中。在这么靠南的地方，树木也不同了，它们更高，更稀疏，树皮有些发红，还带有气孔。我收集起了我能找到的干燥的树枝，抱了满满一怀，开始往回走向矿区，就在这时，我产生了一种古怪的感觉，仿佛有什么东西在盯着我看。我停下了脚步，后颈上的汗毛都竖了起来。
阳光照在树干上，我注视着林中的树木，等待着。那是一种深深的安静，仿佛所有小生物都屏住了呼吸。然后我听到——那的声音。我猛地一抬头，顺着那个声音向林中望去。我发现有什么东西在一闪一闪地移动，一对黑色的翅膀在近乎无声地扇动着。
尼古拉停靠在一棵树的树枝上，黑色的眼睛盯着我。他的胸口裸露着，上面满是黑色的纹路，仿佛黑暗在他的皮肤之下碎裂。他的靴子已经不知道丢到哪儿去了，他赤脚抓着树枝，他的脚趾变成了黑色的爪子。他手上有干掉的血迹，嘴边也有。
“尼古拉？”我小声说。
他往后缩了一下。
“尼古拉，等等——”
可他一跃而起，扇动黑色的翅膀，树枝一阵晃动，他从树枝上离开了，飞入了上方的蓝天。悲，王子只能在影魔队伍里找对象了😢

在楼梯上，我抓住了珍娅的手。“你刚才悄悄说了什么呀？”我小声问道，“对国王？”
她看着其他人上了楼，然后说道：“我说的是‘纳拉泽鲁什亚，埃亚拉泽鲁邵思特。’”我不是“被毁掉的人”，我就是“毁灭”本身。
我抬高了眉毛：“记着提醒我，要留在你好的那一边。”
“亲爱的，”她说着，将一边满是疤痕的脸颊转向我，然后又将另一边脸颊转向我，“我不再有好的那一边了。”她的声音活泼愉快，可我也听出了其中的忧伤。她用剩下的那只眼睛对我眨了眨，使了个眼色，接着消失在了楼梯上方。这本充斥着许多的乐景哀情和骤转对比写法，偶然有一些翻译细节问题。

玛尔走过来的时候没有看着我，而是盯着路面。等他走近了，我看到他眼中布满了血丝，他的颧骨上有一块儿难看的淤青。
“发生什么事情了？”我问着，抬起手，伸向他的面孔。他躲开了，瞥了一眼站在小王宫门口的仆役。
“撞到了一瓶卡瓦斯。”他说道，“你需要我做什么吗？”
“你错过了演示。”
“不是我值班的时间。”
我没有理会胸口的刺痛，继续说道：“我们准备去湖边，你要一起去吗？”
有片刻时间，他似乎在犹豫，接着他摇了摇头：“我只是回去拿点儿钱，大王宫里正有一场牌局。”
碎瓷片插入般的疼痛加剧了。“你也许应该做点儿改变，”我说，“你看起来好像就是穿着这身衣服睡的觉。”话一出口我就后悔了，可玛尔却好像并不在意。
“也许我就是穿着这身衣服睡的觉。”他说，“还有别的事吗？”
“没有了。”
“主上大人。”他利落地鞠了一躬，跃上了台阶，好像迫不及待地想要离开我。----
“我们之间已隔了一层可悲的厚障壁了！”

更糟糕的是，那些幻象正在变得越来越清晰，出现得越来越频繁。暗主继续每天出现在我面前，一般是在他的居室或者图书馆的走廊里，有时他会在我开军事会议时出现在作战室里，有时他会出现在我傍晚从大王宫回小王宫的路上。
“你为什么不能让我自己一个人待着？”一天晚上，我小声说道，那时我试图在桌边工作，而他则在我身后徘徊不去。
漫长的几分钟过去了，我以为他不会回答了。我甚至希望他走掉，可我感觉到他的手放在了我的肩上。
“那样的话，我也会是自己一个人了。”他说，然后他待了一整个晚上，直到灯烛都燃尽了。
我渐渐习惯了看到他在走廊尽头等着我，习惯了晚上入眠时他坐在我的床沿上。如果他没有出现，我有时候会发现自己在寻找他，或者在想他为什么没来，而这一点，是最让我感到恐惧的。----

“你不可能是认真的吧？”玛尔说，难以置信地笑着，“他倒是一点时间也没浪费。”
“力量来自结盟。”我模仿尼古拉的口吻说。
“我是否应该送上我的贺辞？”玛尔说道，但他的声音里没有丝毫锐利的东西，只有打趣的意味。显然，拉夫卡王位的继承人远不如一个自信过头的私掠船船长有威胁。
“你觉得暗主也是这样，不情愿地面对那些不请自来，嘴唇湿乎乎的皇室成员的主动示好吗？”我闷闷不乐地说。
玛尔窃笑起来。
“什么事这么好笑？”
“我只是在设想那个画面，暗主被某个满身大汗的女公爵拦住，女公爵还企图对她为所欲为。”----
