Knowing that he did this with fire, I know that he didn't know what he was going to get, exactly, that's interesting. The evidence of the fire makes it something that you can feel in your mind, the burn. And you feel the carbon black residue, permanent stain, that stuff doesn't come off. All of this is good for me today. Burned up, final, complete. There was a zen thing I read that said something like, "you should burn yourself completely, like a good fire." (it was intended to be metaphorical)
