Rare moss only found in Cairngorms rescued from fallen tree
Aspen bristle-moss has only been found growing on 60 aspen trees in Britain, all of them in the Cairngorms.
The fallen tree supported 5% of the species' population. Transplanted to 19 aspens near Aviemore.

Kid's science experiments sometimes make great art too. My kid goes to regionals this month with an experiment on which flowers absorb color faster. We also found the color of the dye affects the rate of absorbtion too. @gerowen

It may not feel like it, but spring is here and with it comes the flourishing of new life in our oceans. Spring is also a great time to visit the coast and discover what lives beneath the waves. In this way we follow the footsteps of pioneering phycologist Dr Mary Parke. She studied the planktonic algae and seaweeds of the UK, especially those of the south-west of England.
