Zur Stabilisierung habe ich innen mit Sashiko-Stichen einen Flicken aufgenäht, den Riss mit einfachen Stichen geschlossen und anschließend einen sichtbaren Flicken darüber gearbeitet. So wird aus einer beschädigten Stelle ein neues Detail mit eigener Geschichte.
Der Stoff zeigt inzwischen auch auf der anderen Seite erste Verschleißspuren. Statt die Hose auszusortieren, repariere ich sie weiter – Stich für Stich.
Nachhaltigkeit beginnt oft mit kleinen Entscheidungen. 💙

I might have a favorite section of the color wheel, as well as a favorite color. 🤣
Looking down at my lap and seeing this collage really brought it home when I realized even the thread I’m stitching with is in this color space. Today is a lot even for me, but it just makes me feel so happy.

@vicgrinberg Not linen, but #silk: I have one silk shirt and I recently applied #sashiko to it, with an iron-on repair patch on the back. I think it came out well and it's held tight, so far.

@vicgrinberg I would put a large patch of a similar texture over or under it and run a #sashiko stitch over the whole size of the patch (or even an area larger than the patch).
The stitch is just a very simple running stitch

By starting the rows like this

...and then adding orthogonal rows of stitches, nice patterns emerge.

Nachdem Mamas Stopfgarn nicht mit der Belastung klar kam (Pilling bis Fadenbruch), nochmal neues (unauffälliges) #visiblemending mit einem festeren und farblich passenden Jersey und Garn von der Schwiegermutter in DDR-Qualität.
Was tut man nicht alles für Lieblingshosen …

Me dedico a cosas teatrales varias, dibuixo i hago #collage (aunque menos de lo que me gustaria) y me sumerjo, intermitentemente, en la costura.
M'encanta arreglar coses, de tot tipus, però el meu coneixement habita més el món físic que el digital.
Las redes privativas nunca me resultaron agradables, però hay cosas que recibía de ellas que no quisiera perder: comunidad y acción colectiva, descubrir artistas varios de los que me inspiro un montón, y en los últimos meses patrones de #sashiko (que fantasía). Ah! i recomanacions de pelis i música.
También me apasiona mi gata Pimienta y anarquistear por ahí.

Sashiko is IMO the most important technique for #mending one's clothes and these templates will make my work faster and prettier. I have laid out enough grids by hand with a ruler - I've earned this!
I had to cut the box lid and base apart to print separately, that was a first for me but I think I've done it. Learning 🤓

@linguacelta @meganL To add to this a bit: when I add #sashiko patches I also reinforce with a bit of fabric on the back. Fusible interfacing is very convenient, but I found it's even easier to just use a light dab of some (textile) glue to temporarily hold the patch in place while I sew over it.
It dries quickly enough and holds the patch in place fine. And it'll wash right out, at least after a few times. Though honestly I've never felt any glue when wearing the garments.

Uusi harrastus! Oon toki silloin tällöin vaatteita korjannu, mut haluisin ottaa sen jotenkin vakavammin. Sitten sekoittaa mukaan "näkyvää korjausta" (visible mending) eli, että korjausjälki saa näkyä ja sitå yritetään tehdä myös kaunista!
Ostin tätä varten kirjontavälineitä, niin ois mahdollisuus tehdä esimerkiksi kuviointia. 😄
Pistot ei mee ihan suoraan, mut harjoittelemalla hyvä tulee!
