#mastoPrompt "Violin"
I borrowed someone’s violin
But realized the key it’s in
Was flat a single quarter-tone.
Though not ungrateful for the loan
I gave it back: superior ears
Cannot be burdened with their peers’
Prosaic chores. I’d just as soon
Return it rather than retune.#poetry #shortpoems #riddlepoems #classicalmusic #music #violin #vienna #childprodigy #perfectpitch #poetrycommunity #writingcommunity

Riddle 44
King of the wood, and priest am I,
With dear-bought freedom, doomed to die.
To gain my post, I killed the last,
As he before me. I forecast
That my successor, younger, stronger,
Will come when I can fight no longer
To keep my name. Perhaps it’s now—
I see you’ve plucked the golden bough.#riddlepoems #poem #poetry #ancientrome #religion #mythology #goldenbough #poetrycommunity
