Very disturbing videos being shared by both Iranian government and opposition sources abroad about the brutality and the extent of the violence in the organized riots on Jan 8 and Jan 9 across Iran.

It seems like Iran's deployment of both police, basij & IRGC anti riot units across the country has slowed down the number of riots.
Iranian sources claim that over 200 people were captured by the police and 100s of guns, hand grenades & radio equipment confiscated.

Iranian state TV broadcast the parliament session live. #Qalibaf, a hard-liner who has run for the presidency in the past, gave a speech applauding police & the #Iran paramilitary Revolutionary Guard [#IRGC], particularly its all-volunteer #Basij, for having “stood firm” during the #protests.
He went on to directly threaten #Israel, “the occupied territory” as he referred to it, and the #US #military, possibly with a pre-emptive strike.

@ScottLucas #iran is more interested in policing the clothes of Iranian women then protecting itself against foreign aggression. It is more important for #Tehran to see how much hair is showing or not showing under a head scarves of women than the smugglers who help bring in contraband. Money was wasted in Iran on Gasht-e Ershad and #Basij, that could have been put to better use.
This is an empty gesture. The #ayatollahs will hang people by dozens using cranes. It wont fix what is required.

Iranian media shared the image of the 22 years old Basij member killed by the protesters in the city of Koohdasht, Lorestan province.
13 other police/Basij were also injured during the clashes.
No reports of any civilian casualties or injured from the incident.
