A report by Fars News Agency has rejected claims circulated by The New York Times alleging that US President Donald Trump exempted "Israel" from obligations under a potential US-Iran memorandum of understanding.
According to Fars, a review of the draft text showed no such exemption, stressing instead that if the agreement is finalized, the United States and its allies would be bound not to carry out any form of aggression against Iran or its allies.
In return, Iran would also commit that neither it nor its allies would launch preemptive strikes against the US and its allies.
The agency concluded that the NYT’s claim is "baseless and unfounded", noting that the wording of the draft directly contradicts the reported allegation regarding "Israel’s" supposed exclusion from the commitments.
