Okay so since u weirdos like tech stuffs...

Backdrop CMS:

Figured out how to make it work with Markdown (YAY) and am cleaning up all of the old files. I noticed some weird w Markdown headers like the TOCIFY plugin not making menus unless I make the first one HTML, but I got it working.

The stupid CKEdit5 kept removing my Figcaption tags. So I am using basic / Markdown now. TinyMCE was even WORSE. Is there a way to make them leave entered HTML tags alone? Like a way to comment them to make the editor not fk w them?

Some images were vanishing. Uploading thru the upload thing worked well. Dunno whyyyyy tho.

Clearing cache got me bc I did not realize I needed to clear my browser too for images lol. Hour of rage BC I am dumb.

I forgot my eyes are younger eyes, gonna fix the low end font for phones so old ppl can read it ha ha.

I keep calling it BackPage, BackStop, blah blah etc lol

Minor irk for Backdrop CMS... for some reason it keeps messing w my images. I'm kind ov particular abt how they display, tags, blah blah and it keeps pulling out my figcaptions. Kind of minor IG, but annoying.

I turned off the "swap these" and stuffs. And I know it is prob just part of using a pretty editing thing but ugh.

So far tho this is actually really good for our project. And their forum was actually like... nice. I was confuse. Lol.

Project is coming along well. I've kind of taught myself more webstuffs to make this work the way I want it to.

Right now, last major (so far) stuffs is figuring out a way to make the Tocify menu disappear / collapse, but only when the screen is on a phone. The menu for the guide especially is pretty long, so it really needs to be collapsible.

Oh and uhm if u want a sneak preview in before the wknd is done, DM me. ;-)

Was going to see if Drupal might be better for our site. I am kind of stuck on wanting to do a thing with the Backdrop CMS that I can't find a way to do.

Like how they have like, no obvious way to just manually install.

FOSS if u can navigate our bullstuffs.Ugh.

@BKaernel in fact, I totally switched to #BackdropCMS - it's a much better fit for my sort of projects. And still flexible enough for a lot more than "just" simple Websites.

@elfin have you heard of the term "Drupalism" - this seems to be one. 😁

In fact, you can turn that just off, but then you need a theme, that shows both, frontend pages and admin pages in a pretty way. Not all themes do in #BackdropCMS. Didn't look at Drupal in a while.

A "lightweight" alternative is to turn off using the admin theme for content creation. In fact, I always turn that off on my sites for better user experience. 😉 That setting can be found on /admin/appearance (both CMSes).

I looked at #drupal a while ago when #wordpress (enjoy hashtags?) was looking like it was going downhill but it seemed odd, and I couldn't say why.

I hadn't heard of this one before, though it seems like it's been around for a while and has a good community around it.

Bonus! I found it in my #yunohost server so going to take it for a spin.

"#BackdropCMS should do" sounds a bit odd to me. If you want a feature, create it.
Backdrop is an #OpenSource web CMS. No platform or company, it's software built and maintained by a community. So, Backdrop - as software - doesn't "do"... 😆

No ActivityPub implementation, but a module to publish to Mastondon, hence the Fediverse, by writing blog posts exists: https://backdropcms.org/project/mastotoot 😉

it is not lost on me that the VC-backed #Drupal leadership jumped on the #AIslop bandwagon with this REDUNDANT DrupalCMS conceit; but nary a peep about what would make sense for the project: turn Drupal into an #ActivityPub framework for building different #fediverse webapps.

Drupal isn't the open-source mess Wordpress became; but it’s been a thing to watch how the capitalists set the priorities.

#BackdropCMS should do what Drupal won't: become a framework for AP webapps.

#Substack users: are you ever worried about being deplatformed? Here I'm thinking of Substack temporarily or permanently shutting down your account because of government pressure.
