Today I launched my first #backdrop #backdropCMS site, as #CiviCRM migration strategy away from Drupal 7 for a site that used a lot of drupalisms.
Today there's a security update for Backdrop, so I learnt also how to do that!

@dries Another SABDFL gets brain-rot.
I was dismissive of #Backdrop, thinking it was right and proper to grow up and align with "industry best practice" rather than "Drupalisms".
I was wrong. #Drupal was built by dabblers. People who just wanted a website for the thing they did, and accidentally ended up as web developers. Indeed Drupal rockstars.

i spent the whole day, WHOLE FUCKING DAY, debugging in #Backdrop with #ckeditor the #Mastodon embeddable code.
WHOLE

DAYand even after i got it to work, i have to submit a ticket because it looks like Mastodon is NOT following standard #oembed protocols; hence the difficulties.
this should not have taken me a whole fucking day to sort out but every single FLOSS project is pulling bullshit moves and breaking the web (AM LOOKING AT YOU #CKEDITOR)

@juliewebgirl @reconbot @robhon @KathyReid @pluralistic @defcon I can always spool up a masto instance for us on one of the servers but lots of work for two users.
And I'm not a fan of ruby/rails/PostgresSql ( not my core skills) so really don't want to.
I'd rather wait out WordPress investment in #Fedi (and my side, #Drupal*/ #Backdrop #Nextcloud)
*Why does Auto insist Drupal is "Deepak" I'll never understand.

#Brush hasn't been updated since June of last year ... and it wasn't well received by the community.. #Drush has a "shim" that sort of works-ish to work with #Backdrop. My config doesn't like it at all and I don't use composer if I can avoid it.
Bee's last commit was two days ago.
I think the choice is clear.
And most of the commands are the same as Drush's, so my learning curve is minimal.
This'll do just fine.
