After a long and sleepless night of pain the old man drags his lifeless breathless corpse from a sunken bed of jagged shards of thorny rocky glass and steel, unable to yet see as the classical music plays he scrapes his corpse across the floor to prepare his coffee, as his hands shake and tremble he pours in the water and counts the scoops of grind, after fumbling he manages to plug in the percolator and as the coffee begins to perc he shuffles off to the toilet, his bowels bellow out in a hungerous rage, in the mirror as he stares blankly into the abyss his reflection shows his greasy and disheveled hair and beard, he disrobes and enters the shower, the steaming water pours over his head and aching body as he brushes his teeth, his arms tire as he scrubs his hair and beard his hands struggle to grasp the soap as he scrubs his body, the near boiling water offers no relief to an exhausted body riddled with pain, exacerbated by the experience he shuts off the water and dries himself off and as he exits slowly he prepares for the arduous task of taking the brush and taming his hair and beard, robbed of what little strength he started with the old man stumbles back to his bed, he struggles to pull on a clean t-shirt his underwear socks and pants, he slips on his slippers and pours a cup of coffee then gently he packs scraps of tobacco into his pipe and steps out the door, the sun is barely rising the air mild humid and moist, as the world begins to wake not one soul takes care for the enduring hell the old man is forced to face yet another day;
