  1. UCLA scored 6 rushing TDs. Last year, UCLA scored 8 rushing TDs ALL SEASON.

Determination, chemistry... the Bruins indeed look different.

  5. And the cherry on top is that we beat Oregon to do it.

  6. The Buffalo #Sabres are up 2-0 in the first period against the Boston #Bruins and I’m allowing myself to feel excited!

If they win, they’ll eliminate the Bruins and move onto the next round of the playoffs!

  7. Does it End Tonight?

In our house, the cats are not allowed in the cellar. No. No kitties in the cellar, damn it!

    Today, this little monster…

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/robj_1971/55236290957/in/dateposted/

Lily… the gremlin… the queen of personality… she broke the law. Jen was coming up the cellar stairs and when she opened to door to come out, Lily darted past her and ran down the stairs.

That’s not the point of this post, I just wanted to share with the universe that Lily was a bad kitty today. Bad kitty!

Now for the actual topic I wanted to write a short (mercifully) post about tonight. The Boston Bruins are down in their first round playoff series. They trail the Buffalo Sabers three games to one. Tonight is game five.

Does the series, and by extension the season, come to an end tonight? It sure looks that way. I mean, I hope not but after the way they got the snot kicked out of them in game four it sure feels that way.

I have to say that I am still pretty pissed off at the entire NHL. Granted, only the players from team USA were involved, but the way they figuratively dropped to their knees and figuratively chugged down the nazi orange ass clown’s spooge (figuratively speaking)… it made me fucking sick and it made me kinda want to see the entire league lose. I hate feeling this way about my favorite game but what can I do? Fascists are evil and these fuckers lined up to be counted among them.

Damn it. Now Lily is asleep on the otoman… otaman… How the hell do you spell that anyway? Ottoman. There, that’s right. Thanks spell check. What was I saying? Oh yeah, Lily is asleep on the ottoman and she is so cute it’s ridiculous. I guess I can forgive her for going down cellar. I don’t know if I can forgive the NHL for being full of nazi ass wipes though.

  8. Last night was a crappy night for me being a sports fan.

The Bruins played their first ever game against the Utah Hockey Club. The team formerly known as the Phoenix Coyotes. They lost 2-1 in overtime. That made me sad.

Worse, the fucking Yankees won the American League pennant last night. Thanks for nothing, Cleveland. Now, with the National League pennant still undecided, we are left with a choice for the World Series. Yankees vs Mets or Yankees vs Dodgers… again. Could there be a worse scenario?

    Yippee.

  9. The Leafs came back to take game two of the best of seven first round series. If Swayman plays goal in game three and wins, will we have a full blown goalie controversy? We’ll see. Game three is Wednesday (I think… isn’t it?)

Anyway, let’s chase those hockey blues away by listening to a newly mixed crappy song. Quarantine Tunes Volume Seven is done save for figuring out the actual running order for the 11 songs. More on that to come in the future though. For now, here’s the last song.

  10. Bloganuary writing prompt What are your favorite sports to watch and play? View all responses

    There was a time…

There was a time when my social life more or less consisted of watching sports. I’d say 50-60% of what I did with my free time involved watching sports. There was a period in my life where I had a partial season ticket package (10 games) for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League, a full season ticket package (40 games) for the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League, and then during the summer we split a full season ticket package for the Lowell Spinners of the New York Penn baseball league (I think it was about 50 games and we went to half of them). At the same time I used to follow the Lock Monsters on road games because there were six AHL teams in New England. I would go to road games in three of the other five locations. Along with all of that, there were playoff games for the Bruins and the Monsters. One AHL season saw me go to maybe 50-55 games. Crazy.

Now? I still follow hockey and baseball closely, but I rarely go to games in person, and I have a tough time fitting actually sitting and watching games on television, or listening on the radio, into my busy schedule. I still hang on every goal and every run, but I miss tons and tons of every season.

So the answer to the question, what are my favorite sports to watch? Hockey and Baseball. The Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League, and the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball. Those are my favorite teams. I also follow some NCAA hockey but my old school, UMass Lowell, is seriously crappy this year so they are tough to follow. There is a minor league baseball team in Manchester New Hampshire, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats who are in the Toronto Blue Jays system, but I haven’t been to a game there since 2007. This year I am hoping to get to a game and maybe follow them on the radio a little bit. We will see.
