Has anyone here tried both #WireApp and #Nextcloud Talk? I'm curious which provide higher quality, more reliable video calls?
Yes I'm aware that #NextcloudTalk relies on having your own server (or a friends) unlike Wire. What I'm really interested in though is finding the most reliable, privacy friendly #Skype alternative for my family (including low tech family members). Right now we're using Wire, which has a really nice interface... but call reliability leaves a lot to be desired.

Kaum zu glauben, aber wir nutzen #Skype tatsächlich noch täglich – vor allem für unseren Redaktions-Chat. Bisher gab es keinen Grund, die Plattform zu wechseln, sei es aus Bequemlichkeit oder einfach, weil es schon immer so war. Doch schon bald könnten wir dazu gezwungen sein, auf andere Dienste umzusteigen. Laut der Webseite #XDADevelopers steht die Abschaltung von Skype offenbar kurz bevor.

I think the ghosts are having way too much fun in the machine this Halloween! #Skype *WOULD* choose today to decide I don't get to work with my students *again*, and I finally wrote to my employer basically telling them we seriously need to do something different than we have been, because this whole web-skype thing is just plain not working out well. Until now, I've just meekly asked for a new link, but 3 times of this and I'm done just patching things up. I am thankful to @pianomarian today for pointing me at the #GoblinTools formalizer, 'cause I majorly needed it today to keep my message sounding professional.
