Update: Billy Squier was wrong. Not everyone wants me. Got a call from the bank to which I applied. Hard pass. I blame that dumb, out-of-date assessment test they used.
In other news, my laid back approach to management is gonna be tested today. We'll see how this goes. I hate conflict. I am a peacemaker by heart. Alas, sometimes the rooster needs to lay down the law in the coop.

One thing about running the show at a place that requires two different sets of keys to operate: Every once in a while, the openers will have the same keys and can't access stuff to open the branch for the day. Sigh, days off don't exist in my world.
"Captain, the reason there are two sets of missile keys is so that no one man can arm the missiles."
I think of this quote every time this happens.

I’ve drawn the picture below as a reaction to the current inclination of prominent #ChangeManagement the(r)orists frowning at “military” style #CommandAndControl or #C2 organizational methods while promoting #FlatOrganizations without #MiddleManagement and with no need for #Planning (everything will change anyway), as a far better, more #Agile way of dealing with #Complexity.
This may be true if the organization is operating and struggling to survive on the left side of this “complexity plane”, but if it wants to mature and “get somewhere in life” it better starts aiming for the other side by collecting, documenting and using “lessons learned”, planning for and working towards wherever it wants to be in the future.

I used to be super judgmental of folks who would joke about winning the lottery and quitting their job with no notice. But nowadays I think I’d do just that. And with little remorse.
As a consolation I think I’d send my immediate teammates a few grand each as a sort of “sorry my quitting made things slightly more difficult for you” breakup prize.
I’m not sure if this is growth or regression? 😂
