  1. Alcohol: No amount of drinking is healthy!

Brad Pitt just started drinking again. The media, probably sponsored by the alcohol industry, is promoting the idea that resuming drinking alcohol might not be so bad.

    This is insidious #propaganda !

If you are an #alcoholic , stay strong! Do NOT drink.
I am proud of you for staying sober.

I was not an alcoholic, and didn’t drink much. I had a drink, and then quit drinking, on a whim, 3 years ago. Now I feel no urge to drink. As a surprising side-effect, my thinking has improved, a lot! I want to stay smart.

    Take that, Tyler Durden! 😜

  2. A product recommendation: Bulleit makes cocktails for sale--like Manhattan, Old Fashioned, whatever. The cocktails are mid.

But the BOTTLE it comes in! It's the perfect large apothecary bottle.

Mid is better than bad, and a bonus apothecary bottle with some real heft to it means you should keep your bar stocked with this stuff, because unlike the other bottles you hoard from your drinking problem, these ones you might actually use.

  5. 2 years sober from alcohol... I didn't think it was possible

And I'm not sure if I could have done it without the support of my wife, my friends, and AA

My heart has been recovering and no longer need an ablation, at least for now ☺️

  6. Random thought... why do we have alcoholics anonymous and not smokers anonymous?

Is it that for most parts of the world alcohol addiction pre-dates smoking as an addiction, or that the negative effects of smoking were only recently stigmatized?

Or maybe smoking isn't considered an addiction or one that deserves meetings about it?

  7. I never thought I'd make it this far but part of me wonders if it's worth it considering all of the hate and terror organizations out there and no rights to our own bodies. The men, the Christian's, and the nazi groups, I'm scared to leave the house; might be a good time to pick up drinking again.

  8. 900 days #sober today.
I’m trying to remember when my last drinking dream was. A long time ago.
But I’m still wary everyday, of accidentally buying the real deal instead of my non-alcohol beer. Of mispronouncing “sparkling water” at a restaurant so much that the staff bring out a big bottle of wine.

I’ve made it this far, I think it might be good to find an #alcoholicsanonymous group or something. I want to help others, and in doing so help myself.

  9. 30 years without a drink is a long time. An unbelievably long time when I consider there was once a time I couldn't go 30 hours without a drink. I am very grateful to all the people that helped me along the way. They taught me a lot of wisdom and showed me a lot of love.

  10. 33 years of continuous #sobriety, thanks entirely to #AlcoholicsAnonymous.

And maybe the prayers of my grandmother.

Is it my sober Jesus year? And what is required if so? Lol

  11. I got 1/4 through a Shirley temple before i realized it didn't taste right

I was served an alcoholic drink when I asked for a non alcoholic drink

245 days of sobriety just got ruined and it wasn't my choice 💔

I'm struggling to fight the urge to start sobbing in the club

  12. Christ sounded the Clarion Call the day a great-great-Grandaughter of Catherine the Great (four times removed) took her own life. Shortly. afterward, Alcoholics Anonymous made the decision to change from a fellowship of men and women to a fellowship of people.

In large part, AA has become an intake facility run by whores who have sold their lives out to demons.

  13. CW: addiction // 12 Step programs 12 Traditions

AA wants soooo badly for the 12 Steps to be their major contribution to the world, when the steps are mostly general self help and nothing really special imo. The *real* genius of AA is actually the 12 Traditions, which is what I attribute AA’s ability to spread throughout North America and the rest of the world.

It really is an amazing example a democratic, horizontal (mostly) mutual aid organization. The 12 Traditions of AA are a lot less well known (virtually everyone knows that the first step is some variation of “admitting you have a problem” and that if you allude to your “higher power” or “making amends” that your likely in AA/NA/Al-Anon) so I’ll list them here

    1. Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon A.A. unity.

    2. For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority — a loving God as He may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern.

    3. The only requirement for A.A. membership is a desire to stop drinking.

    4. Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other groups or A.A. as a whole.

    5. Each group has but one primary purpose — to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers.

    6. An A.A. group ought never endorse, finance, or lend the A.A. name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property, and prestige divert us from our primary purpose.

    7. Every A.A. group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions.

    8. Alcoholics Anonymous should remain forever non-professional, but our service centers may employ special workers.

    9. A.A., as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve.

    10. Alcoholics Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; hence the A.A. name ought never be drawn into public controversy.

    11. Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films.

    12. Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities.

  14. Currently reading On the Tail of a Comet, a #biography of Frank Buchman, founder of the #OxfordGroups (later Moral Rearmament) and from which #AlcoholicsAnonymous (#AA) sprung (the former was explicitly #Christian, the latter #Spiritual). Fascinating and confusing.

  16. We had game night with friends from my #AA home group and 19 came in to eat late and just as I finished telling him to get food and no one's going to cook for you my #sober sister put hot dogs on the grill for him and Skyler's spouse made him a plate 🤦‍♀️

Also my sponsee switched seats when Photographer Guy 💕 arrived so we could sit together then we started winning games and she said that's not fair they're dating 🤣😅
