One thing I'm struggling with this year is my decision to teach an actual College Board AP © Chemistry class. I used to teach this class and spend time on complex topics because they're _cool_. This year, I feel the pressure of the test in May.
My class is also very different from last year. They're not really go-getters to dig into content, so I think I have to back off on some things and focus on the test material this year to get them through it.

@DanielleVossebeld I'm not so sure. It depends on how important finding that quote really is, in the grand scheme of things. There will have been a lot of water used, and energy expended, to do that for you. You may not be paying up front, but AI is definitely a cost to society. Is it worth it, to find your quote? Should we be paying upfront, to reflect the cost of the often trivial info we look for? Should the tech-bros pay more for the resources they profit from? It's complex!!!

Dear fedi I'm livid. An acquaintance of mine almost finished college and after doing an *unpaid* six months internship was offered a follow-up contract for less than 500€ a month. If you wonder why European young people are mad that's pretty much why.
I'll be doing anything in my power to make sure he'll never work there so if you have an opening or internship for a young person starting his career let me know.
He'll finish the equivalent of a bachelor in computer science in May next year, has done some six months of hands-on work in security and is one hell of a worker. I can personally vouch for him. He's based in Italy and can do both in-person and remote work, and might be able to relocate to the NL and possibly the UK if need be.
