  10. Ages ago I subscribed to a website by Monte Cook called Dungeon A Day. I managed to archive the level PDFs and Maps before it went down, but I don’t seem to have the handouts. Anyone happen to have them?

I’d even buy a pdf bundle again, but I don’t think they are for sale anymore. It was also called Dragon’s Delve.

Was I the only one who ran it?

I really liked it, but we never finished it.

  12. I've never really thought about surreal horror as a genre, but apparently it is a genre, and one I quite like. But how do you run it as an RPG adventure? Doing horror justice at the table is already hard enough.

So currently I'm trying to prep Impossible Landscapes, for Delta Green, and it's a beautiful gem of an adventure. Enormous levels of clues for the Agents to uncover, to the point where they can easily miss two thirds and still get somewhere. All filled with bizarrely surreal connections and general weirdness, but hidden behind layers of mundanity, because otherwise it becomes meaningless. I'm really looking forward to running this one.

Still wondering if I should do it at the table or online. I generally prefer table, but I've got the PDF version and there are a lot of handouts. And it's probably easier to do weird tricks with sounds and recording, though that would be a first for me.

  13. For my compositing workflow, I have renders as Multilayer EXR streams.

I read these in with the "Image Sequence" file input node.

But sometimes, the ranges don't match. So what happens past the end?

Well, it seems that Blender just keeps using the last available frame.

In my case, though, I needed to stop the output from the background, otherwise it'll show up outside of the mask later in the shot.

So, I needed to set it to instead give me blank frames past the end of the render.

At least in Blender 2.79, this isn't super-intuitive!

As you can see in the attached image of the nodes, I used a "Value" node, with the special expression "
#frame" where you'd normally type a number. This appears to create a driver expression, and fills in the current frame number.

I then use a math node with the "Less than" operator to specify the end of the render. Above that, the operator will output 0, and that is used to shut off the render input, substituting a blank image (with the constant color value of black/transparent, or R,G,B,A all set to zero).

    This method works.

  14. Anyone interested in some Axel Ax3000 Model 90 thinclients for some #chaos (aka #hackerspace or #makerspace) associated projects?

They still do get firmware updates until at least 2027. Not sure if you can install a regular linux on them, but based upon the feature list it probably already runs a slimmed down one. These devices also have some empty expansion card slot. Probably for a wifi card. (I didn't open them and it is kinda hard to see)

Preferably handover in person at #GPN24.
