The Audiobook format truly comes into its own for epic poetry. #EmilyWilson's translation of #Homer's #Illiad sounds absolutely magnificent and riveting when someone like #AudraMcDonald reads it, no performs it, like a marathon one-person-show. And Wilson's intent in her translation to support the text's orality really shines. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ @bookstodon

A random comment "Lohse and Adramahlihk have such a dynamic. I feel a romance should be available". What in the WHAT?! This man is literally like over the top textbook abusive. Destroying everything she loves. Punishing her for joy. Physically abusive verbally too?! The hets are not okay if this is what you want. -
This year, I decided I'd like to have a go treading the boards in our local panto, I was lucky enough to be cast as one of Cinderella's ugly sisters (can't think why), and the whole experience has been a complete blast!! ❤️

Which drama had you running for your blankies?
There are several good suspense shows that were released in 2025, including #NinePuzzles and #DearX. Several folks recently mentioned a drama from 2020 starring my beloved #JangHyuk and the FL from last year's #IdolI #TellMeWhatYouSaw. It's immediately captured my attention, with 4 episodes consumed today. I'm not a fan of serial killers, but if they must be shown, I can't tolerate them in a romcom, which this doesn't pretend to be. Very interesting role for Jang Hyuk. I think the mystery will keep me intrigued, but one guy they've cast has never played anything but a villain in the many dramas I've seen him in, so I certainly have my suspicions!

After a few days sailing north of the Skye Bridge visiting Raasay, Portree and Plockton it was back around Ardnamurchan. We will be heading south for Northern Ireland later this week. We are now tied up at Salen Jetty, a beautiful wee marina on Loch Sunart. There's a small shop here which regularly has Ardnamurchan bottles for sale. It's the only shop on the winding, narrow coastal road from the distillery (about nine miles away). I was looking for their Paul Launois 2023 or Sherry Cask Release, unfortunately for me, they aren't expecting these until the end of the week. But they did have a Maclean's Nose...
Maclean's Nose Blended Whisky (Adelphi), 46% abv, NCF, NC, NAS
Subtle notes of smoke with zesty citrus and sea-salt. Creamy, oily mouthful with hints of the burnt skin on a rice pudding. Slight floral hints, toffee and vanilla - there seems to be a bit of everything in this. At under £30 it's an absolute belter.
