Unfortunately, my next door neighbour has gone to A&E so she's asked me to check in on, and feed Bobbie, her #cat. He'd left her a little gift so I got rid of that, washed all his dirty pots, dried him off after he'd come in from the #Mancunian rain, swept up his discarded biscuits and put him down fresh food and water. This starts as mud, then gravel, over field run-off drains, then bricks and stones before mud and dirt and then a few cobbles. Great fun. A soggy, solo Sunday ride out. The first 75 minutes was dry with the odd spit of rain. The last 15 minutes was a whole different story...so wet! Still, it's always great to get out, despite the forecast. Last weekend was my cycling club's (Dukinfield CC) 140th anniversary. To celebrate, we'd arranged to ride 70 miles to Lyneal, Shropshire, on Saturday, stay overnight in the activity centre there, then ride the next 70 on the Sunday. What a contrast on both those days. Saturday, wet, miserable (but fun) for the whole ride. Sunday, cold but clear with blue skies, riding home fuelled by beer and food from the pub the night before. The only downside of a stupendous weekend was a double accident to two riders, Phil and Emidio. Phil is the guy second right, with the open black jacket on, in photo #2. Emidio was overtaking Phil on a steep, wet, narrow descent (he was told not to) when a car came up in the opposite direction. Emidio hit the brakes but slid into Phil. Both decked it but Phil has a broken left wrist and shoulder ligament damage. Emidio not so bad. So their ride lasted about 15 miles! Yesterday saw just four of us set off from #Dukinfield Town Hall to #AlderleyEdge for the #cafe stop. Our #Portuguese rider, Emidio, wasn't feeling too good so I promised to keep the route as flat as possible and at a super manageable pace. And I held that promise true! Just around 64km with about 350m of elevation, so not that hard and it was really nice and steady. Great company and chats, good coffee and a #vegan #RockyRoad at #CostaCoffee in Aldeley Edge. Nice! We spotted an ex-footballer, now #Radio5Live pundit, #RobbieSavage, too. Top morning on the #bike

It was the Interclub 10 mile Time Trial yesterday and my club, Dukinfield CC (a.k.a. The Duks), had four riders in it. Pictured (L-R) David "Bam Bam" Bamford, Karen Newby, Ash Cooney, Emidio Santos and Steve Holt (didn't ride, was marshalling). Ash was the fastest Duk in a time of 28:10, an amazing effort in his first ever TT. Great efforts by all involved. So a solo 80km Sunday ride for me out to #Siddington to meet the guys and catch up. Today's #DukinfieldCC ride was a hilly one, @ 1200m in 77km. We headed north out from Dukinfield through #Heyrod, #Mossley, #Greenfield and #Uppermill before starting the long climb from #Delph up #MarsdenMoor. At the top of the moor we headed west down the fast, but windy, descent over the #M62 motorway before turning left again taking us to #ScammondenDam. From there we headed across country taking in a few 10% plus-ers before hitting the main road that climbed to the top of #CraggVale. Another windy but speedy drop took us the the cafe in #Littleborough for coffee and refuel before the ride home through #Newhey, #Shaw, #Lees and #Dukinfield. I did my longest ride since the end of October earlier. 40km round trip. The halfway point was the top of what we call "The Horse and Jockey" climb, which is the road that goes from #Uppermill to the junction with the A62, #Oldham #Huddersfield road. That's where this image was taken. I put the 40mm #Continental tyres back on my #OrroTerraCHydro the other week and they still sing! It was great to get out with two riding buddies, Lauren and Dougie, too. 2 hours of fun and not too many cars about. Just found out, via @MancPictures on Twitter, that Oxford Road train station, in #Manchester , is built on, what used to be, one of the worst of the #Victorian slums, known as Little Ireland. I finally managed to get out for a ride in the rain so I could wear my new #CHPTIII #cycling #rain #jacket. It's superb. The fit is excellent (mine is an L, I'm a 42in/107cm chest), I didn't overheat, the quality is spot on and it kept me dry for the 30 minutes I was out in the rain.
