Another sad story from the family tree.
James Whitworth was my great x3 grandfather's brother.
During serious flooding on 16th November 1866 he was swept into the River Tame in Mossley, whilst trying to recover some items belonging to his employer. His body was retrieved downstream in Stockport a couple of weeks later.
He left a widow and 7 children.
To compound the tragedy, a week after his burial, his 15 year old daughter Sarah died of meningitis.
