  1. Today was the inaugural Bob Ingham Memorial ride. Lots of off-road around Cheshire. Great company and a fantastic route. So much fun.

  2. Just three #DukinfieldCC riders out today. Up #WessendenHead, which I'd forgotten how relentlessly, and consistently, hard it is, but worth the #MaximumEffort. Just over 60km and >1000m of elevation in the sunshine with Paul and David. #Cycling #OutsideIsFree #FromWhereIRide #DuksCC #Duks #PinarelloMarvel #Pinarello #BikeTooter #BikeToot

  4. Got 75km and >1000m done with two mates out to Scammonden dam then a lovely tailwind home. I've done this ride a few times now and always see the same pig but this time he was with some sheep mates and not on his Jack Jones. It's a hard but very rewarding ride, as you can probably tell!

  5. 70km done this morning, the first half with #DukinfieldCC, up to the top of #LongHill with a lovely #tailwind. The club carried on to #Hartington and I did a 180 and came back via #Strines and #Compstall. Lots of climbing and great fun (???), if windy and cold! #BikeTooter #BikeToot #Cycling #OsgarTheOrro #OrroBikes #ThePeakDistrict #TheGoytValley #FromWhereIRide

  7. I met up with the guys first thing but left them after a few miles as I had to head for home. I needed to sort the loft out as we're getting the roof done so I have to make space! This picture is on Middlewood Road, near . The very busy A6 is in stone throwing distance but you can't hear it from this spot. It's one of my favourite roads to ride on, especially when it's fully green!

  8. Today's ride was a hilly one, @ 1200m in 77km. We headed north out from Dukinfield through , , and before starting the long climb from up . At the top of the moor we headed west down the fast, but windy, descent over the motorway before turning left again taking us to . From there we headed across country taking in a few 10% plus-ers before hitting the main road that climbed to the top of . Another windy but speedy drop took us the the cafe in for coffee and refuel before the ride home through , , and . Top day with Angie, Ash, Jane, Paul and a new rider, Andy.

  9. Sneaked out yesterday afternoon for @ 40km doing some local lumps. Just about 10km from home you really get into the hills if you head north and/or east. Lovely countryside, hard as nails, but so rewarding. This photo is from the top of near . It's a three step climb, short but very steep on the steps! I love riding my .

  10. club run, 20/08/2023, from The Rising Sun, , , is to the Pool Cafe (underneath the ), in , .

If you're in the Stockport/Manchester area and fancy a nice, hilly(ish) 80km bike ride with a nice climb up after the cafe stop, come along!

We meet at the back of the at 9.30am for a 9.45am set off.

All are welcome and NO ONE GETS LEFT BEHIND!

  11. Unfortunately, my clubmate, Phil Cunninhgam, has today decided to scratch from the . He started a route, overnight, after the , that took him towards the but this morning still had @ 200km to do by midnight, tonight, in order to reach Check Point 2 (#CP2) within the time limit. He's gutted, obviously, so we've all advised him to fill up on pizzas and beers (lots of), get loads of kip, be a tourist OFF the bike for a few days then get the train(s) home and surprise Mrs Cunningham early!

    Attached are his final stats.

Just for reference, the leader, , has just entered , has done @ 2900km at an average of 494km PER DAY! He'll probably finish tomorrow!

    Chapeau, Phil, you are AWESOME!!!

  12. My mate who is doing the Transcontinental 2023 is currently at the foot of the #Stelvio Pass, from the Bormio side. He reached #Control Point 1 (CP1), near #Livigno, last night with just over an hour to spare. He's currently done @ 1200km having ridden from #Belgium, through Eastern #France, up the #Grimsel Pass in #Switzerland and now heading through Northern #Italy then onto #Slovenia. The leaders are already in southern #Bosnia! At least, after the Stelvio, Phil will have an "easier" couple of days following rivers and valleys into Slovenia.

  14. Yesterday saw just four of us set off from #Dukinfield Town Hall to #AlderleyEdge for the #cafe stop. Our #Portuguese rider, Emidio, wasn't feeling too good so I promised to keep the route as flat as possible and at a super manageable pace. And I held that promise true! Just around 64km with about 350m of elevation, so not that hard and it was really nice and steady. Great company and chats, good coffee and a #vegan #RockyRoad at #CostaCoffee in Aldeley Edge. Nice! We spotted an ex-footballer, now #Radio5Live pundit, #RobbieSavage, too. Top morning on the #bike

  16. Sepp Kuss wearing a Jumbo Visma top with a chest panel design exactly similar to (my club) Dukinfield CC's pre-2022 tops! I expect goodies in return!

  17. Just under 80km this morning with clubmate Ash. We headed west towards , into a 30kph headwind, then turned just after to head east with a stop at Ice Cream Farm (near ). Three triathletes were there, one still had their number on the seat post! After coffee we headed home with a nice tailwind, in time to catch stage 2 of the . Top morning.

  18. Just under 80km today with , an easy, flat(ish) ride through north . The only serious climb of the day was up and the are at the top of the climb so a great place to stop for coffee and to refuel. And it gave Emidio the chance to take the obligatory selfie of us all (L-R Jon, Dan, Paul, me, Ash, Emidio). From there it was mainly downhill back to East . Lots of laughs, sun, no rain and good times!

  19. Another excellent Dukinfield CC ride, this time to Farm Made Tearooms at , with Jane and Paul Nyland, Danny and Emidio. The cafe is in a glorious setting, near the bottom of . And you get the chance to see . The only drawback today was my chain snapping at the bottom of the Climb Of Doom, a.k.a. . I managed to get that sorted but walked up the climb as I didn't want to risk using my excessive wattage again in case I snapped it one more time. So that's a new chain and cassette I'll be ordering..

  20. One of my #DukinfieldCC clubmates (Phil Cunningham) has just completed All Points North...a HUGE ride from #Sheffield, through the #LakeDistrict, up to the #Scottish border, back down through #Northumbria and then back into #Yorkshire. He's classing this 1000km+ ride as training for the #TransContinental that he's madly got on! Took him four days!

  22. Up The #Brickworks again today (lovely climb) so a standard shot from the top. A rapid descent before a right turn to climb #Windgather, which seemed longer and steeper than when I last went up 2 years ago. Another super fast drop down #TheStreet before heading to #WhaleyBridge for coffee, then home via #Strines and #Compstall. 75km with 1150m of up, up, up. A great ride with Dougie, Angie, Ash and Paul. #BikeTooter #BikeToot #Cycling #DukinfieldCC

  24. I had a great ride today with Danny, Dougie and Angie (fellow Dukinfield CC members). It looked a bit grim when we set off from Dukinfield but the sun came out once Angie left us at the top of Marsden Moor (image 1)! And we nearly got hit by a deer hopping across the road just after Scammonden Dam (image 2). Two hen harriers spotted, also. 75km, 1200m of climbing and great company. #BikeTooter #BikeToot #Cycling #OutsideIsFree #DukinfieldCC

  26. About 10km from home on Sunday (I'd done @ 93km around the #Cheshire lanes by this point) I nabbed a shot of the Phil Foden mural on the corner of Wycliffe Street and George's Road in Stockport. For scale, I rested Osgar the Orro by our Phil. Phil is #47 for Manchester City FC and a #Stockport lad. He's a top, top, top player. 28. Just Dougie and I today. Only 54km but just short of 1000m of climbing! A great, local route taking in , , and . Pretty chuffed that I can still get up the 15%ers (and steeper!) in my 60th year and the @orrobikes Terra C helped, too. It's an amazing machine.
