I don’t give any thought to my accent. I don’t consciously try to speak a certain way, it just is what it is.
But this colleague told me that I said something yesterday too that made them do a doubletake.
Certain words have been heavily accented and easily identifiable as #Mancunian.
Apparently when I’m tired, I slip straight back into #ProperManc. I was totally unaware of this.
I am quietly chuffed about this discovery. I am from #Manchester, a proper Manc, and I’m bloody proud of that.

Further to my last, my natural #accent is #Mancunian. Like, proper Manc. As in could-be-in-Oasis Manc.
I now have more of a cultured Manc accent, as in it’s difficult to work out where I’m from other than “definitely #northern”.
There are hints of #Scouser and a bit of #Stokie, overlaid on a base of posher #Manc.
Until that is I either go home, or speak to another proper Manc. Then it automatically reverts back to natural and there’s not a shred of doubt where I’m from.

He'd left her a little gift so I got rid of that, washed all his dirty pots, dried him off after he'd come in from the #Mancunian rain, swept up his discarded biscuits and put him down fresh food and water.
