When my cycling club arrived at a cafe, the queue for coffee was too long (we caused that!). I headed to the ice-cream hut.
I have never tasted rhubarb crumble ice-cream before. It's good. Very good. Jolly Nice is the name of the cafe, which also describes the ice-cream pretty well.

Today's cycling club ride had a few more incidents than usual.
1. Bottles jettisoned into the road when someone cycled through a pothole that was not signalled by riders in front.
2. Shimano Di2 (electronic shifting) front derailleur stopped working. Cue lots of unsympathetic but friendly comments from others in the group with mechanical shifting bikes. It didn't bode well when I heard "But I charged it last week" followed but a group looking at an app on a phone for a long time.
3. Shimano Hollowtech II crank (left side) fell off. Never a good sign! Seemed to end well after a repair, although the general condition didn't look great.

I had a new experience on this morning’s club ride.
The person in front suffered a rear tyre puncture. The tyre was set up tubeless. For a short while, I got sprayed by the white sealant as it squirted through the hole in the tyre as it continued to rotate.
I expect there already is, or should be, a name for this joyous (sarcasm) experience. #Cycling Mastodon, enlighten me. What do you think?

Yesterday saw just four of us set off from #Dukinfield Town Hall to #AlderleyEdge for the #cafe stop. Our #Portuguese rider, Emidio, wasn't feeling too good so I promised to keep the route as flat as possible and at a super manageable pace. And I held that promise true! Just around 64km with about 350m of elevation, so not that hard and it was really nice and steady. Great company and chats, good coffee and a #vegan #RockyRoad at #CostaCoffee in Aldeley Edge. Nice! We spotted an ex-footballer, now #Radio5Live pundit, #RobbieSavage, too. Top morning on the #bike

Know what's even more depressing than working from home? Death, disease, war, famine, and civil unrest, all caused by climate change. And if you think your allergies are bad now, just wait until climate change really starts kicking into high gear.At this point, I think we all need to be willing to sacrifice a little of our own personal comfort in order to prevent the literal apocalypse. If that means most office workers won't have as many opportunities to socialize, and they feel a little lonely as a result, I'm sorry, but that's a 100% acceptable tradeoff in my opinion.
If some folks really need that social interaction in order to stay sane, I would suggest they join a local #BookClub or #CyclingClub, start volunteering with #HumanRightsCampaign, #HabitatForHumanity, etc. There are plenty of other (arguably better) ways to get your physical activity and social time besides commuting by car to work in an office.
