  1. Just a small little problem in the #Renault #Megane #ETech #HUD: it has the opposite polarisation of the main screen which means you can’t see it with polarised sunglasses :D

#UX isn’t just software, it’s the devices your product has, and those the user uses.

  6. I just received an email with firmware upgrade instructions for my #GarminIndex2 #SmartScale. I cannot believe Garmin thought this complex manual process would create a great user experience! It should auto-update on its own in the middle of the night! I estimate that only a small percentage of its customers will go through this upgrade process. #UX #SoftwareUpdates

  7. Just found out that you can make #hyperlinks to distribution's #desktop #software center! When I hover this link on #Okular website, it shows:

    appstream://org.kde.okular.desktop

I click it, and #AppStream-compatible #Pamac GUI opens up on my #Manjaro. My consensus is that many #download pages could make opening #package details on #Linux click-away with the help of such #link, hence faster #setup.

  9. #Instagram #UX fail: shows a nearly empty slate when requesting nearly any link. No images, no account holder's images listing. Just this annoying placeholder.

To fix this, all Instagram front-end developers have to do is add a little blurb: #JavascriptRequired.

  10. Have a look at this mess of a UI! It's like I'm trying to transfer mp3s in 2003 or something. I just want to talk and listen to music while riding a motorcycle!

  11. BTW, this is what that album looks like in the Music app on my 14" Mac shlepptop. This must be the first band whose name I've seen being truncated in the application. I just wonder how the designers picked that (obviously arbitrary?) truncation point, considering how much space there's left unused.

On a more general note, we've had this truncation #UX pattern for so long now, can we just stop applying that? Please? 🤦‍♂️

  13. I am in need of someone to give me a high-level website design for a service I'm developing. I don't need a bunch of web development, just a set of wireframes and design elements (color palette, general shapes and page layout, maybe some icons). Can anyone recommend someone?
    TIA!

  19. switches off suddenly and without warning shortly after boot even when plugged into external power. Logs show no prior errors so the machine boots and boom off it switches itself. Did you ever get this? (A 40s power button press seems to have cured it for now, just wondering if this is a know and common problem.) How does one on that machine on Windows show the battery level?
