Therefore, in accordance with the principle of non-retrogression, they are presumed to be prohibited under #UNCRPD, #ICESCR and #UNCRC. Despite the Supreme Court calling the detention of children ‘a flagrant violation of the law’, right-to-information data reveals at least 79 such detentions, 61 from Uttar Pradesh alone over five years. Juvenile justice law clearly says that no child in conflict with the law can be placed in a police lock-up or jail.

Scotland's top law officer, Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain KC, has ordered a review of how diversion from prosecution is used in sex crime cases.

A key factor to cases like these is that the alleged perpetrator is often a child as are those affected - i.e. all teenagers. The #UNCRC is relevant to under 18s.

So just in case video games are not caught by the #DSA (as well as the Directive on Supply of Digital Content), the European parliament has just approved a draft report on video games. This is from the Internal Market and Consumer Protection committee. This seems to build on work done on #LootBoxes as well as #AddictiveDesign. Main focus is protection of children, with ref to #UNCRC. Does acknowledge in passing some benefits too of video games.
