I don't really stress about assessment evaluation except when I catch it having moved from "in queue" to "in evaluation" and then I enter a pretty quick refresh loop waiting for the results. #wgu

Only the capstone remains in my #wgu #computerscience degree. Looking forward to wrapping up this degree: I dropped out to work in my senior year during my first attempt.

Wow. Just tried to look into about going back for a CS degree.

Indiana University fucked me over the last time back early 2000's , when I was injured and spent time in the ER. Failed classes. I wasn't doing that great before either. But you know, almost 20 years ago.

I applied to #WGU . Chat said they didnt import the bad grades. But they, like everyone else, want transcripts. And lolnope, they gate everything by GPA.

Hell, even doing a fucking SF-86 ONLY goes back 10 years.

There is no "fresh start". There is no "its been too long, start fresh". Nope. The fucking academics will use your permanent record forever against you.

About two months ago, WGU switched from Examity to ProctorU / Meazure for proctoring and it has been an unmitigated disaster on every possible level. WGU has been extremely unresponsive to any complaints or attempts to work out an in-person proctoring solution.

I've had two of the ProctorU exams so far and it's intolerable. I'm not looking forward to spending upward of an hour and a half ruining my room, then a minimum of 30 minutes dealing with ProctorU's nonsense, followed by the exam, and then 45 minutes fixing my room.

Apart from the issues of the proctors making up rules and being general jerks during a session, what the ProctorU software does on computers should probably be against the law.

- Clubs
- Can have in-person classes that allows me to focus better
- In-person graduation

Cons
- More expensive, per credit
- Might be hard to get accepted
- Only a degree, no certifications
- Need to commute
- Rigid in scheduling

Pros
- Much cheaper, charged per term
- Degree program + about a dozen certifications
- Prepares me more for jobs, more direct
- College starts on the first of every month
- Should be relatively easy to get accepted
- Could potentially get a degree in very little time
- Self-paced

Cons
- No in-person classes
- Rely on self-discipline (might be tricky with my ADHD)
- Some jobs might still prefer degrees from traditional colleges
- No graduation walk
- No clubs
- No meeting people outside of classes

I now have an A.S. degree in Computer Science, and I want to get my bachelor's degree somewhere. I have found 2-3 choices, and I'd like some input. I can either go to WGU, or I can go to NJIT or Rutgers.

For WGU, I can get the B.S. in Cybersecurity, or if I go to NJIT/Rutgers, I can get a degree in either Cybersecurity or Information Technology.

Which would be a good choice? (I'll also drop a pros and cons between the two in the comments)

For my program mentor - supported me through mental health crises (yup, more than one), covid, an adhd diagnosis, and a move to northern california

For WGU - being an amazing program with amazing course instructors and support who helped me with everything i needed to be licensed although in the end it didn’t happen
