  1. While the NYT is giving iffy advice about how much underwear you should take on a trip, here's my single best #traveltip -

Use contact lens cases for face wash + face lotion. You can fit surprising amount in each side, usually enough for 2 or 3 days for me. They don't leak & are cheap and compact.

  6. #Taiwan #TravelTip: Taipei has been advertising that you can now pay for the metro by tapping on and off with credit cards rather than buying tickets, but despite supporting Mastercard and Visa, they ONLY accept locally issued credit cards from a specific bank - tourists will still need to buy tickets of get a travel pass.

Apparently they “have plans to expand to other banks” at some point.

  11. An early cool morning at Angkor Wat - after the green season comes the chill one

Current reports of weather in Cambodia tells of cool nights with temperature around 20 degrees C. It gets to 30 degrees by lunch.

Not unusual. Every December and January there is a short, cold season in the north of the Kingdom of Wonder.

It gives the temple area a somewhat cooler colours.

Like the 8th Wonder of the World, Angkor Wat.

  15. Here's a free #Latvia #TravelTip that goes against my standard advice.
Left luggage is usually cheaper at bus than train stations. But in Latvia, buses rule and that's where the money is.
So choose €2/hour for a locker at Riga's Autoosta or €4 (coins needed) for 24 hours at the train station a 400m walk away.

  20. #TravelTip for #Neurodivergents: if you are in a strange city, where you don’t know the traffic pattern and rhythms of the lights, you should fall back on waiting for the green man to allow you to cross the road, so as not to get run over.

If, like me, you get distracted or overwhelmed easily, be aware that many traffic lights have buttons or boxes for those with vision difficulties, that help them cross. Some of these boxes have a button you press on the bottom of the box that you keep your fingers on, and will vibrate when it’s time to cross.

I use these when I’m easily distracted as it’s a pretty difficult to miss interruption to indicate you should cross the road.

    Accessibility is for everyone. #ActuallyADHD

  21. Be advised. If you go out to eat at a restaurant in #Croatia, a meat plate "for 2 persons" will comfortably feed an entire family, including at least one set of grandparents. #FoodHack #TravelTip #ICantMove

  22. I’m in #Berlin. I am very impressed with how this country pulled itself together after its tragic history, not to mention how welcoming and hospitable its people are to visitors like us. “East Berlin” is beautiful with modern architecture. I’m sharing some of my #photos. Note: I don’t know which ones are East or West. #artwalk #uberarena #topographyofterror #checkpointcharlie #flipboard #flipboardusergroup #germany #travel #traveltip #photography

  26. Not only can you wear your #fannypack (or #bumbag #hipPouch etc) in front so you can keep an eye on it. you can also wear it backward. With the zippers facing your body, it will make it harder for others to dig into. Not convenient for normal use, but good for an #airport/#busStation/#trainStation nap or just the walk through a space that you know you won't need immediate pack-access while in
